Went for a morning drive, and was about 2 hours into it. Running JB4 map 3 with no issues for for about 2 months now. Prior to that was running map 2 for a year, again no issues.

Been doing the e85 mix since switching to map3, 5 gallons to a tank. This last time I noticed at WOT there was random stutter in the acceleration, but only at WOT everywhere else it was fine.

Thought maybe bad gas or messed up the mix so I dropped to map2 and put half a tank of 93 in. So now I'm driving and turning right at a intersection I gun it coming out of the turn and theres a loud sound like something was flung around I cant tell from where or give a better description it was too fast and unexpected. Cars still running and I'm driving normal so not really using the turbos now until I can pull over and check. Everything seems fine under the hood, I pull out and gun it again with jb4 on to log and now theres 0 boost. The engine seems fine just no boost, no dash lights indicating something wrong either.

Pull back over and shut the car off. Check things again, still nothing amiss, restart the car and magically I have boost again.

I test map2 again and at WOT the stutter is still there. At map0 there is no stutter at WOT. I'm still thinking gas, anyone else have a different thought? I'm going to test more tomorrow.

I had a similar issue couple months ago on Map 3 once with an E85 mix. WOT and the car stuttered and then no more boost. JB4 safety stated Fuel Pressure Low. Burned that tank and after a fresh fill-up no issues since so my guess was bad fuel/mix.

Not a car guy so no idea what that loud sound could of been maybe just a pebble in the wheel well?

Just had similar issue but been using map 4 with 91 pump mixed with 4-6 gallon of E85 from same station for months (never tested their race fuel bc too lazy and don't have a thing to do it). Been experiencing stutter at WOT from time to time but never any boost loss afterwards. Today had the stutter and shortly after all boost was gone for the remainder of my 20 min drive to work. No engine lights -- nothing extra so far thank goodness. Just a tame ass drive. Just parked and will try again in a bit...

I had that same issue last week three-quarters of a tank of 93 octane filled the rest of the way up with E85 ,15 minutes later wide open throttle car was running like crap went ahead and pulled the plugs just in case, they all look great ran the rest of that take out without any hard throttles filled it up again a week later with 93 all was well, I never had any cell light come on my jb4 did jump from map 3 to 0 to keep from damaging anything

Interesting. So I did have a quarter tank left the other week (91 + E30 blend) and then decided to fill up the remaining 75% of the tank with more E30 and 91 anyways so I may have beefed up the mix by being utterly impatient. Car seems okay now on the short drive I just did. Will update if any more issues. I always feel like it runs better with 4-5 gallson of E30 anyhow so I think it could be my bad for overdoing it.

Well it's good to hear we all got through it undamaged. I guess it might be worth it to invest in that fuel it monitor for the jb4 after all.

I’m dealing with this issue now. Not sure if kia factory ecu can keep up with the mods. When I get on the gas around 80-100mph my turbo/ boost goes out I’ll pull over turn the car off for a min hear a click sound and boost/ turbo are back on. Funny thing is when I have the JB4 connected the car runs smoothly with no problems. I’m thinking of putting my factory downpipes back on. This issue didn’t Occur until I installed ark down pips with MBRP .. anyone can give me any advice or feedback

You have that issue only with JB4 disconnected?

I've had Ark downpipes with Quicksilver exhaust installed for months and had no issues like that though I've had JB4 installed the whole time.

Yeah without JB4 turbos keep cutting out.

Check jb4 log.....may be something there useful. may have to bump the log response to 50% wot to get a log. lack of backpressure from the downpipes could be throwing the ecu off and compensating by holding the wastegate open(to keep the turbo from over spinning).....open wastegate, no boost. ecu knows to adapt for some backpressure from stock exhaust so it applies a little more "solenoid" input to keep the wastegate closer to the "closed" position to build boost. click sound when you cut the car off could be wastegate "clicking" shut. just throwing something out there to eliminate from the equation.

Any of you guys checked to see what your sparkplugs are looking like? I wouldn't be surprised if there was wear and your plug gaps have opened up.

My impression is that the Stinger engine seems to cause spark plugs to wear faster especially when modded.

You must run your JB4 when running aftermarket down pipes Or that will continue to happen or get a ECU tune, tork stage 1 etc etc

Thanks soooo much I knew I wasn’t going crazy .. the car is a beast with the JB4 but once it’s disconnected.. turbo goes out every time I floor it. Sucks but thanks so much ..

Where could I get an ecu tune I’ve been looking for a min now

I have seen where a couple folks have had their ecu re-programmed at the dealer to accommodate the aftermarket exhaust. Can' verify this......lack of backpressure that the jb4 can adjust for.

Is this problem only with Ark DPs ? Or it doesn’t matter ?
