GT2 Travels

I've noticed that the trip computer is, on average, 1.2 to 1.4 mpg better then actual. That being the case, i would need to see 31.2 on the trip computer and best i have seen is 28 and change
As I said in a previous post, gas mileage is determined by how you drive and where you drive. At 70 mph on the highway, the tach is only registering about 1750 rpm's. At that rate, you can keep 30+ mpg, if it is steady with no slow downs and speed ups. Oh and yes, I don't use the left hand lane. You can fine this on the MPG thread. Granted it was a computer calculation but is greater than the 28 in your post. The actual number was 30.5 mpg. I estimate that is a little over 29 from a manual calculation.

89 sorry had to correct.
Running a little test this week. I filled up with premium last week and so far does not seem to be any difference. This is the first time I've used high test out of about 6 fill ups.

How does left or right lane driving affect mpg?

Just a quick note to say thank you for providing the mileage info on trips. I take longer trips a few times a year and have been considering upgrading from an IS350 to the Stinger GT2. Gas mileage is important. I put regular 87 in the Lexus and get 28-29 mpg on longer trips if I'm averaging 70 with speed control on. Anyone have a feel if they lose 1-2 mpg by putting in regular vs. premium on the Stinger?

Nobody on this thread is breaking 30 MPG (as I've seen boasted of by two of our august company today), or even coming close. What's with all of us? Are we mere mortals in the fuel economy contest? I barely touched 29 MPG on my last road trip, a record for me. I've seen 28.3 a number of times. But cruising at 27.something or even 26 is the most common fuel consumption I see.
I commonly break 30MPG highway doing 75-80. City seems to be between 24-26 depending (stop go puts me around 19 most times.) My tank averages around 26-27 MPG with a close to 50/50 split. I'd assume having the stripper RWD means I'm gonna see a bit better economy due to lower weight and less drivetrain loss. But I can also imagine most people here have lead feet ;)

Guilty, somewhat. Despite my best intentions (this time I'm gonna see how good of gas mileage I can get), I can never resist an opportunity to accelerate up to 80 MPH impressively fast. And I do enjoy passing people (but not cops; my last warning was after I passed a cop and he said, "You do not pass a cop". He said it twice. :D)

I’m a left lane driver no matter the car, I don’t think i’ll get 30mpg in a GT2. I’m usually about how quickly I can get somewhere when on a long trip.

Did you ask what to do if a cop is parked on the side of the street?

I try not to get cheeky with cops. I did point out to him that I don't check to see if it is a cop car before I pass somebody. So he repeated his advice. And I decided to look at least a little bit before I pass another cop SUV.

I worked the road for over 20 years as a reserve deputy sheriff. Although we were primarily tasked with criminal investigations and not traffic, we were out on the road between calls frequently. I always made sure I drove the speed limit plus a couple of mph to avoid creating traffic backup. If someone did pass me, they were clearly exceeding the speed limit, but unless they were 8-10 over, I never stopped them, just flicked the lights to let them know to slow down.

Well, he flicked his lights AND turned on the light bar. Of course, he was going the speed limit when I zipped by, probably doing (very briefly) a bit over ten above. He was very nice about it. And I appreciate small favors very much.

I've averaged 28 - 29 several times (150 + mile trips) using eco drive mode, cruise control set @ 78 mph & premium BP gas [not promoting gas product, just gas of choice). If you really feel the need to to break 30 mpg @ >70 mph, try cruise and no A/C.

This is doable even with air on.
