I can’t figure out a way to put the transmission into a manual mode. I checked the owners manual but it was no help. I can use the paddles but the trans return to “D” after a little bit.
I see that that on some models the shift lever can be moved to a manual position but mine does not have it.
Thanks

This has been covered a few times on this forum. Unfortunately on the GT2 models with the "shift by wire" electronic shifter, the transmission will always return to "D" when you come to a complete stop, even in Sport mode. Outside of Sport (or Custom depending on your settings) it will return to "D" after a short period of not paddle shifting. Unless things have changed, I know of no way to keep in manual mode full time.

Before I discovered that my GT1 has manual gate, I was driving in Sport Mode and simply shifting with the paddles from each stoplight. Once you pull on the right paddle it leaves "D" and displays the gear number until you stop again. It was no big deal; I was satisfied with how it worked: and had no idea that I was mimicking how GT2 transmissions work when using paddles and Sport.

It's covered in the owners manual. It will only stay in "manual" in Sport or Custom mode, otherwise it reverts to D after 6 seconds without throttle input when under 4.5mph.

I wish there was an override option. Not that it's a major inconvenience but it would be nice if you could change that behavior in the car's settings.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Thanks. I guess I missed it in the manual. I think all manual autos always return D or 1st gear when the vehicle comes to a stop or slows to a crawl.

Nope. My old Audi A5 and my current A4 stay in manual mode at a stop unless the paddles are not being used and the car has to auto down shift.

I wish the Stinger operated the same way as I find the paddle shifters pretty useless without a manual gate.
