GT2 Spark Plug Question.

Friends don't let friends run RaceChip. Get a JB4 for almost the same money. :)

Don't want to connect the fuel wires? Then don't. The real game changer with the JB4 is it's CANbus integration via the easy to route OBDII cable. The JB4 is able to read every sensor the ECU can in addition to internal ECU calculations (like fuel trims) and incorporate that data in to your tuning. The RaceChip and other dumb systems can't even read something as simple as how far down you are pushing the gas pedal.
How does all this extra CANbus info help the tune? You are still just adjusting boost at that point correct?

A lot more goes in to it than just linearly and globally "adjusting boost" like say a RaceChip does. More data coming in allows much better and more dynamic tuning.

So very good and precise tuning of boost, correct?

No you can do a lot more than that. But you know how it goes, not going to post our trade secrets on public forums.

If there are only tmap and map inputs what else can you control? Will jb4 ever add direct timing control?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

CANbus is two way communications. We're able to read data out from the ECU and send requests in to the ECU.

I don't envision changing much on the timing end on the JB4 side for the Stinger as the control we have now as proven effective between the lowest and highest grade fuels our customers run. We've even got some guys running 89 octane (not that I suggest it!). There are a few things I'd like to change on the flash side though that would specifically benefit JB4 cars who are heavily modified but won't make sense until there is practical and affordable at home OBDII flash tuning.

How exactly are you writing back ? the spot where the juice box plugs in is behind a can bus gateway which means you shouldn't be able to ride directly to the bus I have attempted to ride directly to the bus from this port and I am unable to do things such as controlling the steering wheel or other items... also based on the speed it looks like we're just logging using basic OBD parameters not canbus tapping.. I'd love to hear more about what you can write back on a Kia via the OBD Port but if anyone is interested in exploring this further there are other things out there that allow you to tap into the true canbus and look at the stuff at a very very fine and high bit rate

Terry, Your Right CANBUS is 2 way but the issue is your tapping into the CAN Gateway, that gateway doesn't allow write backs with out auth checks and such. Something that no ones has bypassed at this time. As I've said in the past and I'll say again since I'm one of a few people actively attempting it.... provide me a list of all the changes you'd like to see done, I've cordinated with Tork and made many changes on my specfic Tune to support JB4 better.

Now a great example of Canbus RW is Comma.ai (Self Driving on Kia Stinger) we tap into the CAN @ the camera and are able to send messgaes to control the resume feature and steer the car.

List of FLASH Only Changes:

1. Rate of Throttle Opening
2. TQ Limiters
3. Min Timing on Shift
4. Upping base boost
5. Building a timing table optimized for higher boost
6. Increase Dwell on Coils

some JB4 changes that would help.

1. Launch mode (Allow us dial in lower boost in start of first and start) (My car leaves hard in map4 for example)
2. Control of more than map6
3. Negative boost being allowed in map6
4. Per Cyl Knock (Sometimes its hard to tell if were seeing TQ mgmt VS Knock MGMT)
5. Fuel Trim Limiters, Allow us to reduce target boost if Fuel TRIM goes to high... this is often a indicator that the HPFP is about to crash and would go along way in riding the edge of the pump capicity

Just some thoughts.

I should Patent my last idea damn... Just realized this would help Race Gas and other guys pushing the boundries keep shit in check while not forcing full cutout.. .

@Terry@BMS So this mean the jb4 can not write back to the CANBUS at least on the Stinger, correct?

No we send two way communications through the gateway to the ECU (and other modules) without issue, it's the basis of all data logging and diagnostics. Send request, get a response. And there is a lot more you can do with that than just pull engine data. Although I'll admit I've never tried to steer a car that way. Sounds dangerous lol.

It might be true you can't reflash the ECU through the gateway or issue certain commands without a special validation process nailed down. Not something that applies to what we do so never spent any time with it.

Not into sweden, then you have to add ~40% on the price. :D
RaceChip is available in germany, iirc.

Update: (Doing it in a new post because it wont let me edit the beginning) I bought RaceChip, and I sincerely regret it. I ended up swapping the BMS intakes due to poor fitment (seemed like the heat shield just wasnt quite fabricated to the correct specifications) I opted for Injen intakes and before you jump to conclusions as to me saying injen is better, dont, because I saw the same track times with BMS and Injen so in my opinion they are virtually identical in performance gains. I have since recently ripped out my RaceChip and bought JB4 with fuel wires and bluetooth, but unfortunately the package was stolen or sent to the wrong place once the secondary shipper sent the package, I had no issues with BMSs shipping. So now instead of opening a JB4 up for christmas I'm sucking on my thumb waiting for the funds to repurchase it again because USPS refuses to reimburse me. Anyway, I also ended up gapping my spark plugs to .022 but will likely regap them to .025 (+/- .01) once I finially recieve a JB4 with fuel wires and bluetooth.

To the guy who is getting blowback and smoke, if you get JB4 I can almost garentee that @Terry@BMS will work with your car and its mods to deliver the perfect piggyback tune. Additionally, I highly suggest you take off that careless primaries and add a HFC primary, you'll lose maybe 5WHP/10TQ or you may lose none, but in the end you will have a much cleaner car and itll give some back pressure. In my opinion having no back pressure is harmful to the longevity of the engine and doesnt compensate for how little you gain from having a catless exhaust vs hfc exhaust. I'm planning to get the Ultimate Performance HFC Downpipe + Mid Pipe Combo Kit and Jun Bl EVC catback exhaust.

P.s. maybe if im lucky, Terry will let me send him my useless paperweight piggyback tune, RaceChip, in exchange for the JB4 /w fuelwires and bluetooth ;)

Getting ready to install my plugs why would you not stay gapped @ .022?

May want to think twice about the high flow primary. A friend is smoking with that too. Not worth the 3hp big $ and possible headaches with stock turbos.

at .022 the spark could become to weak to fully ignite the fuel, which obviously isnt good.

Racechip is worthless find some other sucker for that but if there is a lost JB4 package I'm sure we can help you resolve it. Worst case could heavily discount a replacement. What is your BMS order number I'll look in to it?

Good news, the investigation into my package has been resolved! They were able to retrieve the back from the place they mistakenly delivered it too and delivered it to me! What email should I email the logs too so that you can see how well my car is performing, or not performing to customize the map more?
