I just bought a 2018 GT2 and have just completed the break in period. Naturally I was excited to try out launch control and a few hard accelerations, now that I have it feels... almost unstable, like I am fighting to keep the car in a straight line the entire time I am accelerating past about 75%ish, at least in sport mode. I've never owned or driven a car with this kind of torque so I'm wondering if this is normal or if something is possibly wrong. The camber alignment on my rear wheels seem to be overly negative, just by eyeing it, but again I am not sure if this is normal or just my imagination. Anyways I thought I'd get some insight here before I take it in to the dealer to see what they think. Anyone else notice anything like this?

This is torque. Enjoy!

Where are you located and what is the temperature like in your area?

Yes the car has torque but it should be pretty damn stable too. Especially in a straight line.
It does not sound right to me.

I agree. We test drove this car without stability and traction turned on last year December on a really cold day and while the car was burning rubber, it didn't slide or wiggle the rear. It was straight and true, the driver realized this occurred when he saw smoke passing the car after we stopped. It wasn't launch control but it was quick and stable.

The GT2 having a limited slip rear axle could behave differently than the car you rode in if the car you rode in was not a GT2. I have another car, not a Stinger, that is RWD limited slip with good power, and if the weather is cool, you can forget about going straight under hard acceleration.

Thanks for the replys. I should have said I'm in North Texas and first noticed this when the temperature was 72F. This morning on my way to work I noticed a distinct wobble when accelerating moderately hard from 60-80 mph, and noticed a slight metallic burning smell when I got out to go into the office. I do think something is wrong. This car does not feel stable all when even moderately pushing it, I'm taking it to the dealership as soon as I can.

There was an issue with the LSD oil, the dealership will replace it with an appropriate oil, could be a possible cause. Definitely bring it to the dealership asap.

Update: I dropped the car off with the dealership. The camber alignment on both rear wheels was far too negative. Inside of both tires were already worn to the cords, which they say is why I was experiencing the wobble. Makes sense. What doesn't make sense is why the alignment is that far off on a brand new car in thr first place. I've driven it maybe 1300 miles. The service rep asked if I had hit something and told me "we don't send them out like that". I have not had any adjustments made to the alignment or anything else and I suspect that hitting something would not explain the camber alignment being off on both sides of the car evenly. The car had a few hundred miles on it when I bought it (with a hefty discount). Needless to say I'm not happy with the situation but am happy it's being fixed. I thought they looked off but didn't trust my gut initially. Ugh.

Believe it or not, most new autos need a wheel alignment as soon as they are delivered to the dealership. The loading and unloading process is unkind to say the least.

I definitely believe it. I just didn't like being accused of causing the problem myself. Not a good start to my relationship with Kia beyond the initial sale (which was outstanding). Hoping this will be taken care of honorably.
