Rare indeed. Where did u buy the car from?
I heard about this from the car sale guy as I took possession of my GT1. So this is third person. After reading about these only being opened up to allow cooling air, I am now uncertain if what my salesman said was describing that or actual air intakes. Anyway, the options to make use of the "fakes" are probably many? I am not a gearhead.hey merlin, if you can find the owner, take a pic. i know that there are several members, including me, that have been discussing making them operational but can't get around water intrusion, routing towards the filters, clearance issues, etc. would love to see how they routed anything to the front, or if it is only for heat extraction.
Can i see what yours looks like? I didn't see any emblems engraved in metal. I did see three factory-looking stickers (with Kia holograms, etc) that have serial numbers and other info, but nothing engraved.Well you will need to look for any indication that it is in fact a Kia/Hyundai part. The emblems should be engraved in the metal.
I checked; my magnet stuck to the underside of the hood perfectly.Hey, can you check it with magnet? Wondering if this one was made from aluminium.
I bought it with <200 miles on it from a reputable Kia dealer. I'm 99.999% sure it's not used. I like the way it looks and if it really as rare as all of your responses indicate that it is, then i'm happy it's a unicorn. i'm just really curious about it... can't find anything online either...Rare? I never seen one like that. Pretty sweet. I doubt it, did you buy that used?
How would i find the build date? If it's a early production model, that would be really interesting. i got it with <200 miles on it. it would be nice to know if it's like #003 off the production line or something hahaLooks like early production show cars? - OP what's your build date?
I'm trying to investigate this right now. checking with all of you and scouring the internet for info. it's not clear why there are no vents -- it seems there are a few like this floating around on the Internet but i can't track down why. hence my initial question. all i know is that i got this stinger about a month ago with less than 200 miles on it, from a reputable dealer. i'm pretty sure it's not after-market, but i hope to find out for sure soon enough! This is really odd? maybe a pre-production car? maybe an after market? who knows?
OP - answer these question...
Dealership in bay area, california.Rare indeed. Where did u buy the car from?
It shows 2/18 so it's definitely not an early build. Not that early, anyway...Check the data plate attached to the pillar for the driver door opening - right underneath 'Manufactured in Korea by KIA Motors Corporation'. It should show a 4 digit date code with the month and year of the build.
Very strange - mine was made the month prior. Never seen or heard of a Stinger anywhere in the world with 'hood vent trim delete' before, or an option to do so. Like the look!It shows 2/18 so it's definitely not an early build. Not that early, anyway...
Did you happen to note if any other Stingers on their lot were similarly shaved of hood vents?Dealership in bay area, california.
I didn’t specifically look, but the other Stinger I was considering (a white GT1) had the vents.Did you happen to note if any other Stingers on their lot were similarly shaved of hood vents?
That's when mine was built. It shows 2/18 so it's definitely not an early build. Not that early, anyway...
