GT1 as Daily Driver - too long?

Sitting next to my '17 Optima Hybrid, they seem about the same length.
The Optima is actually a little less than one inch longer than the Stinger. The longer wheelbase on the Stinger makes it roomier inside than a G70 or similar cramped four-door. The cross engine arrangement of the Optima allows the cabin to be even more roomy; but it has a box for luggage. The Stinger wins.

Heated steering wheel? Didn't know there was such a thing. I'm just happy with the cooling seats. :D

My biggest problem is relying on the rear view camera to align the car to be perfectly straight, the tilting lines always mess me up :(

You get used to them. Only Red matters. :) That's where you are or will imminently be. I don't even remember the other colors. Blue and Yellow? I think so. One curves to match your steering arc. I don't even know what the other one indicates. Just watch that Red grid. If it parallels the curb you're good. If it is angling toward the curb, then don't let the Red corners go any closer than along the bottom of the curb, i.e. where gutter starts: any closer and you risk scraping your wheel if you keep going. Always make sure you've cleared the curb alongside before you swing the wheel. (How many times have I seen people start to turn away before the nose of the car has cleared the end parking stall? Very sad!) You can overhang the end of the Red grid c. half of an (estimated) foot on the other side of the middle parking line (separating nose to tail parking spots), and your rear bumper will be just shy of flush with that line; which I think is perfect. What I do is pull forward more than I want to, then back up until I'm showing the Red grid just a half a foot past the rear line.

Just test drove the Genesis G70 and, while I appreciate the more luxurious appointments and shorter wheelbase, I just think it looks...well...ordinary - kind of like every luxury sedan out there.

For every day use, do you feel that the Stinger is simply too long? It *barely* fits in my garage and I am always parking in areas with small-ish stalls

Thanks for any real-world input!

Greg
To paraphrase Sheriff Brody: "you're gunna' need a bigger garage." ;) Kidding.
After 20 months I'm at 47000 miles, most of it as a daily driver. The seating position in the car is low, so looking out over the longish front-end makes it feel longer than it is. Plus, that low lip of the front spoiler makes me skittish when pulling up to a curb. That said, no dings so far. You'll get used to it.

LOL! I got spoiled when I had that in my 2009 BMW 5 series, then in my 2012 Optima, which in fact had cooled front seats and heated rear seats, things the BMW costing double the price didn't have. SO I have stuck with KIA for these options. Was just bummed that I had to get AWD to have the heated steering wheel But, I still love my Stinger.

I guess you dont live in a climate where the temp goes into a bit of cold. :p

This is the largest car ive ever owned and consider it a perfect daily driver. New house Im building has an oversized triple car garage too.
It's quite a bit larger than my last 2 cars, an SC300 and an Altima SE-R. The Altima was significantly shorter but a lot harder to park. Poor sight lines, low profile tires, FWD turn radius, and no cameras. I was a less experienced driver too. The SC was next, and a lot easier. Had a cockpit like a fighter plane, just excellent visibility despite the mile long hood. Plus it had fatter tires so you didn't have to worry about getting curb rash.

The Stinger, at least in GT2 trim, is a dream to park. I wouldn't like to park it without the 360 system though.

Interesting, I came from a 2017 Golf GTI but really the only thing I felt when I got the stinger was the width and the weight and it didn't take much time to adjust to. I don't think it's even that much wider than the GTI was so it's probably more a mental thing than anything else.

It's weird, it looks longer than it really it is. I think it's only 3" longer than my old '16 mustang GT. Parked next to the fiance's Elantra they look almost the same size (I think the Elantra is only 10" shorter). Fits in my garage fine and I have a motorcycle parked in front of it hah.

The Stinger is the size of a mid-size car just about. Not particularly long, just looks like it and a fair number of people probably came from smaller sporty cars with shorter wheelbases. I used to gripe about the size of the Stinger. Then I started driving a Cummins dually(2500?) for work for a while. Absolutely no idea where a damn thing was on that behemoth. o_O

Altima SE-R. The Altima was significantly shorter but a lot harder to park. Poor sight lines, low profile tires, FWD turn radius, and no cameras.

My Altima SE-R had, undoubtedly, the worst turning radius of any car I've ever driven. I've driven 3/4 ton trucks that turned better. That thing was a nightmare in tight parking lots. Fun car though, got me many many many miles. Cool to see another former owner of one of those!

Dude I loved that thing, owned it for over 10 years and drove the hell out of it. Glad to see another owner on here too :) But yeah, parking it sucked.

Coming from the K900 to the Stinger, it’s not long at all. Its a perfect length to me.
