New to the forum and I wanted to learn more about the Kia Stinger and meet up with some like minded individuals. I traded my 2008 Lexus IS350 for a 2018 Stinger GT2 AWD as my daily driver and I must say this thing is a beast. I received a speeding ticket within my first month of ownership.

Hey man welcome! We have done a few meets last year and I'm trying to put something together for the auto show pending the weather. You apart of the illinois stinger group on facebook?

Congrats and welcome! You gotta be careful with this car as the speed sneaks up on you real fast and before you know it you are way in extra legal speeds if you keep your foot in it. She is a blast to drive.

Hello! Good to hear that people are getting to celebrate their cars. I haven't seen any Stingers in my neck of the woods (southwest suburbs). I wish I could join you for the Chicago auto show in February but I'm not going to be back in Chicago until the middle of March when winter is over. I'm looking forward to driving my cars when spring arrives. I don't do any kind of social media but please let me know if you have anything planned for the spring.

Thank you. I'll keep that in mind as the power is intoxicating. I should have had my valentine one with me, but I was making a short stop to the drug store. Lesson learned.

I used to drive mine in Comfort mode and the few times I used Sport, I left everything so far behind, I was loving it. I turned on the piped in sound to max so it lets me know when I am really in it. Well mine is wrecked now, so it will be a little bit until I decide what to do with regards to a replacement.

Welcome! Looking forward to Chicago/Illinois events once we all thaw out! I won't do anything on Facebook, though!

Hi. Speeding ticket. :p I bet you'll notice how twenty above feels the same as the speed limit. My wife on a test drive of the Stinger got in the carpool lane and accelerated and looked down and was going over a hundred. From c. sixty to 100+, just like that. A revelation. :D I had a similar experience on my first road trip, when I swung out to pass a couple of semis and some smaller vehicles, probably half a dozen in all, quite a line up. I dropped down a gear using the paddle shifters in Sport mode, and by the time I got back in my lane in front of everybody I was doing 130. That, was a revelation too. It didn't even begin to feel like what I had imagined 130 would feel like. This car is stable, quiet and smooth at all speeds.

Sorry to hear that your Stinger got wrecked. I'm curious, what replacement cars are you looking at? Besides the Stinger, I was seriously looking at two other cars, but I couldn't find anything that compared with it, especially at this price point.

Thank you. Looking forward to meeting other Stinger owners in the Chicago area once the weather gets better. I'm definitely not missing the frigid weather.

Greetings! I agree with everything you said. The power and acceleration of this car is effortless. I was stuck behind a slower moving car in the left lane on the interstate when a BMW M3 passed me on the right lane and I took off following him. He thought he could lose me with the other cars but the Stinger just kept pulling him in. We got up to 105 before he needed to exit and gave me the thumbs up. Most people in general don't know what this car is or what it's capable of. I wish my wife appreciated the Stinger like your wife seems to. My wife is kind of a badge snob and loves her SUVs so she hates driving my car.

I ride motorcycles and in the hills, we often come up on vehicles (4 wheels and even 2) that ruin the ride by being so slow in the fun twisty bits. First time I had my Stinger up there, came up on a suburban or similar that loved to run 80mph on the straight parts (55mph limit) but was painfully slow otherwise. So I warned my nervous passenger and despite spotting an oncoming vehicle probably .5ml ahead, passed the suburban while we were still exiting one of those curves (I had clear view ahead)..

That was the moment I realized, if I never rode motorcycles again, I could be happy with this car.. We may have hit 100 for a moment but we were well ahead of that truck and after the next fun section, did not see him again.

My passenger, by the way, was scared, but admitted she never realized you could do that. :)
