Greetings everyone. I look forward to knowing more about the Stinger (more than just the standard press release) and hope to see one at a dealership soon!

A little more about myself. I'm a 47 year old male, single, and I'm not actively seeking a relationship. Sorry, ladies. I've been burned by this relationship thing once too many. So diner and a movie, maybe the occasional night cap; maybe one of these days I will find the 'one'. Enough about myself, now more about myself! :)

I've had only 5 cars over the 30 years I've been driving. 2 have been totaled (Neither were my fault), 1 lasted 15 years and never even a fender bender (unless you count the errant shopping cart, of which I have found a solution! Never park far away from a shopping cart return area. No one ever uses the damn things anyway! LOL) until my previous relationship and then 3 accidents, none with me even in the car! Then my Veloster Turbo and now my current car, my Genesis Coupe.

I love my Hyundai Genesis Coupe! I love what Hyundai and Kia are doing by going into the 'sporty' category. The main reasons why I've kept an eye on Hyundai and Kia over the past several years is that they are improving their quality and design and are just not focusing on the eco boxes with wheels they once were. That, and you can't drive down the road and spit out your window without hitting a Ford, Chevy or Honda (or all 3 at the same time!); I love the fact that my car isn't as popular as as the others. To this day, I still get "What car is that?!?!" when going to gas stations, etc.

My first Hyundai was a 2013 Veloster Turbo. Loved the looks of the Veloster from the get go. Glad I waited until the tubo came out. I did a few modifications to the car and then had it mildly tuned. Holy crap! I dyno'd 169whp with about 166wtq pre-tune and 215hp and 205lbs lb-ft of torque at-the-wheels! Yes, there are other VTs with mods that were tuned to about 270+whp and about 270+wlb-ft (When a company advertises X horse power, you can immediately subtract about 25-30hp for the loss through the transmission, etc) but they had a lot more modifications and could support a more aggressive tune than I got. It was a fun car but in the end, the car was a little too light for my tastes and you could feel the rear-end "hop" when taking normal corners, or Interstate on ramps (especially where I am from, heh), etc. All that I researched, rear sway bars were a major improvement but didn't 100% fix the issue, you had to also get this mod and that mod and another mod, all of which I really didn't have the time to do myself but couldn't have it in a shop for any length of time to have someone to do it for me.

Less than a year later, I went for a drive and ended up passing a Hyundai dealership in a town about an hour's drive from my home. I took a closer look at the Genesis 2.0T and the 3.8. The 2.0T was fun and spirited but I hated the active engine sound (that's where they put sound through the speakers to simulate engine noise. To me, it sounded like a whine, similar to the sound that a poorly grounded car audio would make) and that immediately turned me off of the 2.0T. I didn't even bother asking if it could be disabled, I hated it so much. Then I test drove the 3.8 and fell in love with grumble at idle and no rear-end hop! Granted, it's no 5.0 V8 grumble (which I think my next door neighbor needs to ADD a muffler or two to his car) but it was music to my ears, and at WoT, woooh boy! It wasn't something that you could hear from 5 miles down the road, but you still noticed it whether it idled by or zipped by! I just liked the car over all, the aggressive styling, the handling, etc. and so I drove it off the lot. I have no modifications on the car (other than interior lights) and I've beat a 350 and 370Z, kept up with and/or beat, Camaros and Mustangs (no, not the 5.0, 5.7, 6.4, 12.5, 100.45....... models, hehe). Too bad the only other drivers that ever wanted to play were the ones that I know would hand my butt back to me while asking if I was ever going to start the motor (IE heavily modified cars). :) The Genesis Coupe has just under 12K miles on it in 3 years (cheers for a work truck!), including a 2K mile round trip to Tampa, Fl. It's almost paid off, I think a little over 6K, so I think I will be trading it in, if I decide to get the Stinger.

I'm a little disappointed that Hyundai did away with the Genesis Coupe and I don't really like the styles of the Genesis brand anymore. I know, they've branched off their Genesis brand to be more luxurious but they've lost that 'aggressive' look to them.

I will have to get behind the wheel of a Stinger to make my final decision but I love the style of the car. To me, it looks like a Genesis Coupe and a Mazda mated and had a child. The best of both worlds; an aggressive looking front end and the stylish rear-end!

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I think you win the "best introduction" award! I do think you're going to love the Stinger if you're happy with the Genesis Coupe. I think the formula is going to be similar - but still an upgrade. The Genesis G70 design has been showcased and I'm not sure if you've seen it - but it sounds to me like you prefer edgier styling - and that's what the Stinger has over the G70.

I've heard the G70 will also spawn a similar/same-designed coupe. Can you guess what that means? I think it's means there's a Stinger coupe coming as well. I'm sure we'll know more when you're ready to trade up to a Stinger. By the way, how did you find us?

I searched for Kia Stinger and did all the reading and watching I could and then added forum to the search. This forum popped up!

Yeah, the G70. While it does look nice and looks more like the coupe styling, there's just something that to me that is steering away from the 'aggressive' look that the Coupe had; yeah, what you stated in your reply, the edgier styling. And the US price still hasn't been announced yet. It may or may not be out of my price range but I at least want to entertain the concept.

The actual sticker price of the car is really not the issue. I like to get the monthly payments down as low as I can and then pay extra on the principle every month. I do that with my house and the Coupe. It just feels good to finally be able to pay extra on a monthly note and be able to pay it off sooner than expected. So if they can get the monthly notes down to around $300/mo with trade in, rebates, down payment, my good looks, etc., I'm golden!

I figure they will eventually come out with a coupe, for both models, but that will still be a year or two down the road. By then, I may have won the lottery, gave all my possessions away and started a one-man traveling agency with my slogan as, "Why travel across the state with your husband/boyfriend when you could travel the world with me!". No, I'm not a womanizer or a gigolo, but it's a catchy slogan, eh? :D
