This complaint is about Kia and not the Stinger. The 2nd day I had my Stinger, I noticed a paint defect on the inside lip of the hood. The dealer guy said this may have happened while the car was in transit. Don't know, I just happened to notice. Dealer said they would take care of it and gave my a nice boring slow Optima to drive.

That was back on 2/12 and I still do not have my car. In fact, I made my first payment on the car, that I do not have. I had the car for 13 days and they have had it for 10 and counting.

I called Kia today to get some action going here, because I do not want to drive an Optima. My wife said not get a Kia as I had my eyes on a Lexus. But the Stinger is great, lots of positive reviews and felt it would be a good choice.

So again this complaint is about the service I am getting from Kia and not the car itself.

Thanks for letting get this out!!!

what did the dealer say when you called ? a simple paint repair should be a quick fix ? good luck

Sorry to hear about this, Scott. Please keep us posted. Would you happen to have a picture of the paint defect?

When I first brought the car back, I was given 2 options. Paint pen the error or completely repaint the hood. The manager of the sales department recommended to repaint the hood. So that's what I choose. Service department guy said 2-3 days should be enough. A week later, I got a call saying the car was ready and then an hour later, I was told there was some chemical reaction to the paint and they would have to start over.

I was on my way that weekend for a little trip, that required AWD and was not going to drive a FWD Optima. So we went in the wife's Infinity Q50. I had been hoping to take the Stinger.

Sorrry to hear this, but also you should know that your complaint is not with “kia” but the dealership. When we have paint defects its something the dealership handles and kia pays for. The dealership itself is whats slowing your reunion with your stinger

I think this is the only potential weak spot (outside of the initial purchase/lease process with Kia) for the Stinger.

At 45-50k, you’re paying luxury money, but you’re never going to get a luxury experience at a Kia dealer. At BMW, Lexus, Audi, even Genesis, if there’s anything wrong with your car you get a loaner than is equal or better than what you’re driving. With Kia, you were lucky to get a loaner lol.

The Stinger is awesome, but will the lack of lifestyle benefits keep some shoppers from pulling the trigger due to situations like this?

Sorry to hear about your situation, it’s so frustrating to have something new and awesome and not be able to use it!

You know this is absolutely right. While you are getting a luxury car at lets be honest, much less than its competitors cost. The training needed to deal with stinger buyers was never full there. Yes we did have instructors come and training videos on how to deal with a stinger buyer. For most stinger buyers, it is the first time on a kia lot. Yes we did get some type of training to assist them, but it was lacking in what really needed to be done.

And a response to my own post. While Kia has a good product for fair prices, their services are offered to the everyday person. Kia lacks the standard operating procedures to handle a customer who used to the BMW, Audi, Porsche experience.
But dont let that stop you from owning an absolute amazing car

I always laugh when I hear about the "luxury experiences" at a BMW or Audi dealer. I had 2 BMWs before this and the dealer experience has been...less than stellar. I've been denied loaners multiple times, told things will take shorter than they actually did, and was overcharged requiring adjustments nearly every single time I've gone for service. Keep out the fact that BMW's reduced their warranty down almost ever year and we're now down to a 4-year/30k mile warranty on a *new car*, they also removed brake/rotors under the warranty coverage and charge out the ass for tire/wheel insurance or be forced to pay ridiculous prices for all-season runflats.

My point is, it's not always sunshine and rainbows in the German dealership meadow, I'd be surprised if the local Kia I've found that actually takes care of me is any worse than the BMW dealers I've dealt with.

I am suppose to get the car back today. After some serious complaints, the GM of the dealer let me borrow his GT2 (dealer car) for the weekend as I had to go back on a trip. I will post as soon as I get the car back.

I got my car back. It took two weeks, numerous complaints, complete lack of customer service from the dealer, but I got MY STINGER back.
How is the paint now ?? Hope its all good !

Just because you buy a luxury brand doesn't mean you get the exact car you own as a loaner. As mentioned, BMW has changed their warranty and have also jacked up their prices for their vehicles. KIA dealers need to step up their game but that will come over time.

Happy to know they got you your car back and took care of you.
