Use a clay bar first, then a good wash, polish & wax or get it ceramic coated & it’ll last the life of the car.Detailing a car is therapy for me and only the best will do. Im still looking for the ultimate shine.
I clay bar with the shampoo which is just as good as the lubricant.Use a clay bar first, then a good wash, polish & wax or get it ceramic coated & it’ll last the life of the car.
Ok, totally understand what your saying, trying myself to keep it simple, by not washing it with water, but using Meguiars Waterless Wash and Wax.I’m actively trying to not fall down the rabbit hole of detailing. I get OCD very easily over these things and for the moment I’m trying to keep it simple.
Going out to wash mine, right now, with water and blow dry. Touch up with a little Meguiar's Quik Wax.Ok, totally understand what your saying, trying myself to keep it simple, by not washing it with water, but using Meguiars Waterless Wash and Wax.
HOT WATER... COTTON TOWELS???Wash without water? Inconceivable. It's ALL I use. No soaps or detergents, period. It is soft water, but just straight hot water into a bucket with a 100% cotton towel. I'll usually/lately take it to the Magic Clean detail shop just up the road. They use fresh towels on each car and toss them into the laundry; one car per set of towels.
Sounds good. I was joking, considering all the different responses here. I am pretty un-dogmatic about a lot of things that don't affect the future of democracy. But then someone mentions using one of the harshest kitchen de-greasers on the planet to scorch their paint and I've already wasted my Brando gif on your harmless routine.@RVance LOL. Hot water cuts grease and oil and bug guts. 100% cotton terry cloth towels are recommended if you are not using microfiber. Scrubbing is not recommended, by me, and lots of water means that any dust is instantly rendered non abrasive. Don't go to the soaked towels until the car is rinsed first, if heavily soiled: In fact I'd recommend using a "real" car wash if he car is that dirty. The key is lots of water and no pressure, no scrubbing. Just go over a section with the hot, soaking, dripping towel. Then lightly dry by soaking up the water so you don't get spots drying on. This is not a method to please OC detail fanatics. But it's what I used before the Stinger, and what I still use between "real" car washes.
Masaaaaaage... is this R rated? LolI have ceramic coating so my wash is simple. Canon coat in suds with dawn dish detergent. Let sit for 5 or 10 mins. Masaaaaage with a warm wet mit, lubricating often. Rinse well. Take a loop around the highway to peal the tears away. Finish with formulated ceramic coat after spray. Done. My girlfriend likes this routine also, minus the final spray!![]()

Exposed to the elements, all of them, especially the sun! I've had a carport so long by now that I'd freak out if I had to park my Stinger out under the sky.So much dust here, if I so much as have a slight breeze while my car is damp, I get dirt spots. Would love to dry with a blower, but I'd need to put a filter on the damn thing.
Wife is out of town, so I'll get a hand wash in tonight if I remember to stop playing WoW before it gets dark.I try to wash it ~45m-1hr before sunset because I'm super slow and if I wash when the sun is out, it air dries and gets water spots everywhere.

My brother-in-law Jack taught body and paint at Miracosta College in Oceanside for 25 years. He always told me to use shampoo on my cars if I ever ran out of car wash soap. And Johnson's would be the mildest. You are worthy. ESPECIALLY if you have your own crew doing the work!As we speak my wife and kids are outside washing our cars with a hose, a bucket and Johnson’s baby shampoo.
I feel unworthy.
