This car is far more automated than anything I’ve ever driven before, AEB, auto wipers, auto high beam etc. Even an automatic transmission is a bit of a novelty. So am I the only one who hops in their car, fires everything up then looks over at the drivers door and is vaguely disappointed to see it sitting there still open? Everything else is so luxe I keep forgetting some things are still done manually. I’ve only had the car for a week and can’t believe how soft I’ve gotten so quickly. Maybe I’ll just call it refined.....

oh you young-in's i remember when rolling up your window meant cranking it, and super fast when it was raining. oh, you want a/c? ive got 280 a/c, 2 windows and 80 mph. remember vapor lock? the potato trick to keep vapor lock from happening? i've got a left calf that can bench press 500 lbs from the seriously stiff springs and a right calf muscle that can bench 700 lbs from panic stops with non-power drum brakes. ahahahahahahahaahahahaha

I remember when rear seat belts were not compulsory Pre 1975 and we would lie in the back of the station wagon (Estate) or even stand up looking out the sunroof.

It sucks driving my Honda now, with some of the features.

And you think you had it tough. We lived in a shoe box in middle of road ...

My Dads car had no original seat belts or radio just a heater/defroster and 3 on the tree. AC was handled by a 180 degree foot vent on passenger and driver side.

Another first world problem the needs to be resolved for the masses....lol. Don’t get tennis elbow when you shut the door.....bwahaha.

Hopped in the wife’s Cerato this morning. Had to turn a key to start it, had to push a lever to slide the seat back. AND had to close the bloody door.

Why is my life so difficult.

You got soft after a week? Most male drivers are completely the opposite all the time when they drive it! Lol

At least you could under all circumstances still close the window... A work colleague from many years ago purchased his dream Toyota Celica GT-4, and during the first week took it into an automatic car wash, whereupon at the start of the wash cycle the driver's window decided to spontaneously wind down and nothing he tried would return it up. He said he never needed to shower that day - he and his Celica interior were soaped, soaked, slapped, soaked again, then blow dried...

I've had many a crank handle spin off in my hand while cranking the arm furiously wearing down the grommets to worthless aluminium

I got this car in part, to be pampered. It was a conscious, deliberate decision. A rolling safe space, a lair on wheels, with amenities galore. The human animal has always sought to comfort itself through luxury, even through softness. The first inhabited caves were strewn with rushes and animal hides. And we have leather interiors. Some things don't change much.
