I still don't know exactly what more your getting for paying $79,950 AUD (plus on-road costs) compared to the Kia Stinger, It must be all about the Genesis branding, the name, it has the same 3.3ltr V6 TT with same specs, it has 5 years warranty compared to 7 years for the Stinger, it's RWD not AWD, literally identical in specifications and features as the Stinger. Each Genesis G70 is offered with the marque’s connected services app, which enables smartphone-activated functions such as remote engine start, one thing Stinger here in Australia doesn't feature, still doesn't justify the price difference, and finally Stinger just looks so beautiful, sexy and turns heads from it's striking good looks, G70 doesn't command attention like the Kia Stinger, but then again Audis, BMWs and Mercs don't either, they are so common place, GO STINGER...:):rofl:

I was very happy to read this post. I read a review of the Genesis a month or so ago and by the end of it I was scratching my head trying to work out where the extra 20 thousand went to. As near as I could see I was getting less car for 20K more. The name is not important to me and the features that it has over the Stinger aren’t important to me either. Glad I’m not the only one who can’t see the value. I hope it does well for KIA but I won’t be trading my Stinger for one.

They're smaller and handle better, some people want that.

They're much closer in price in the states, not a good value proposition in Oz it seems.

During the Christmas break, I found myself with a bit of spare time while shopping and decided to step inside the Genesis showroom in Sydney to check it out the G70.

Let me firstly say that the Stinger has a nice interior. But as soon as I stepped inside the G70, it was very apparent to me where the extra money goes. The quality and feel of the interior was another level above the Stinger, and it has to, because it's competing with the German trio (and Lexus). It's not something that can be quantified with numbers but if I were to describe it, the leather felt a bit softer and plusher, most of the touch points felt nicer, for example - the glossy black plastic on the Stinger steering wheel is replaced with metal, all the hard plastics on the lower interior have been replaced with soft touch material, and even the softer 'clunk' of the door closing was more pleasing.

From the branding & servicing front, Genesis will come pick up your car for servicing and return it to your specified location. On top of this, they will also provide you with a complimentary car while it's being attended to.

Those things may not matter for you, but I think it justifies the larger price tag. Personally, they're not particularly important to me and I would rather keep the extra money and buy the Stinger (because it looks soooo much better and it's a hatchback). I just think if someone has sat in both cars, it would be dishonest to suggest there are no differences for the extra money.

If I had a choice, I would love a Stinger with the G70 interior. Please Kia/Genesis?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I wonder the exact same thing. The G70 retails for $19k more than the Stinger, plus they have a "no haggle" price. Given it's easy to negotiate a deal on a Stinger, the real additional cost for the G70 would be more than $20k. As @Barple says, Genesis provide you with a loan car during servicing or pick it up and drop it off. Even if getting a loaner at a KIA dealership costs you $100/day, that's only $500 of value if the owner keeps the car for a typical 5 year lifespan. So the price difference is still over $19k and the Genesis comes with a shorter warranty than the KIA. Even taking into account a slightly more premium interior, I just don't see the value.

It will be interesting to see how many G70s Genesis manage to sell when a buyer can get a BMW 330i, Audi A4 or Mercedes C300 for less money and those will have more than sufficient performance for everyone except a percentage of performance car enthusiasts.
