Good evening,

I recently replaced put the hks m45il in my 2019 kia stinger gt and once a in a while, briefly, I get a gasoline smell in the cabin. It normally dissipates a few minutes later and it also happens randomly. I have stopped and popped the hood, it does not smell and no check engine lights, etc. Could it be the plugs or any other suggestions?

the cabin filters are crap . you can smell cigarette smoke 2 vehicles ahead in traffic ................

Wow that is a good thing to know. Do they have a replacement that is better?

If the stock filters are just a particulate filter (basically a paper or material element), it may be possible to get a charcoal filter replacement after-market which will cut down smells better.

some guys have tried charcoal filters and no measurable luck , its a Kia thing unfortunately !!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Maybe the dog is hiding in the back seat and letting it rip?

Bugger. I generally keep my air on recycled to try to keep the smells down anyway.
that will result in a smelly AC unit in no time , especially in your part of the world

I've never had any noticeable external smells seep into the cabin, other than somewhat pungent OEM windshield washer fluid, or driving by a feedlot on the highway - that'll put a wrinkle in your snout.

Definitely no gasoline smells, you'll want to check into that further ...

A good quality charcoal filter WILL keep those nasties out. Why would it be "a Kia thing" ?

Clean air and low humidity will not cause a smelly AC. For best results though it should be used on fresh as well according to outside air quality. In traffic, always on recirc but otherwise fresh.

My wife had a Soul , then a Sorento both had the same issue , the prior 9 BMWs did not , its been noted on this Forum several times and my service dept agrees its a weak link in Kias

its the condensation that soaks filters and gathers on hoses and vents that eventually can grow mold , its also happens when you turn the car off after running the AC ( especiallly if the Recirc has been set )

Heres what I bought , please try one and see what you think ...................It might have been marginally better for a few weeks ....................but not much longer

I got a gas smell in the car the other day ...

Of course, I was just coming back from the gas station with a topped up 5 gallon container in the rear storage compartment.

The only outside "extraneous smells" I've experienced in my Stinger was on my road trip through Nebraska. But, I have to say, the cow smell was seriously knocked back from my previous experience of years ago crossing NE.
