G80 to Gt2

If that had a dedicated hatch design, it would be a keeper. :)

Totally agree. The hatch helped me make my decision to buy the Stinger.
The trunk on the G80 as in many other cars, has a small opening, and made
it inconvenient to load anything large or bulky.

I feel that it's safe to say, that if Kia had abandoned the hatch to save time and effort designing a stiff, handling chassis around that gaping hole, and simply gone with yet another trunk sedan, that the Stinger would be dead in the water. That single, practical feature is the biggest deal breaker.

One feature my G80 had that the Stinger does not (and I miss), is not only did it
have a push button to close the trunk, but another to close the trunk and also lock the doors on one push.

Things to love and miss. :P If my push button hatch release on the dash had still been working on my '94 Voyager (had been out for years), I'd have really missed that. As it was, I still couldn't believe it, that the Stinger did not have a dash button hatch release. It still seems a little weird, like an oversight. But, with a slight adjustment in my attitude, I learned quickly to not miss it. My MO works around the lack of a dash hatch release button. And I never use it on the key fob either.

I may be reading this wrong but my Stinger has a button on the hatch to close it , one inside to open it and both can be done with the FOB ??

Must be a Kanuck feature. There is no dash button for releasing the hatch latch on my GT1. But there is on the key fob.

It is a GT2 only feature. Canadians got the Limited which is the equivalent of the GT2 in the US.

You have no button next to the fuel door release?

I know it won't close it, but it seems like there should be a release button inside.

.........does the GT 2 have 360 camera and wireless charging now ?

Yes AMERICAN GT2s have this AND besides power liftgate, there is smart liftgate.....go into settings to enable....you walk up from the rear, car beeps 3 times and the trunk opens...no foot wave or anything

Nope, we have to use our hand like third world peasants.

wait till you find your hatch open in the morning a few times ....................

What the? Why would that happen? Seriously curious..... Kia claims 20"-40" proximity with fob

You are reading it wrong.
My G80 had 2 buttons on inside of trunk. One button would close the trunk,
and the other button would close the trunk AND lock the doors.
Here is a screen capture off a youtube vid... left side button closes trunk,
while right hand button closes trunk and locks the doors.

It starts beeping as you approach it. I've never had mine open "by accident", but I don't loiter behind the vehicle unless I actually plan to put something in there.

Curious why he said there are issues ......

My G80 trunk would open by itself when I didn't want it to, while standing near it.
It got annoying, so I turned the feature off.
