Can someone here verify for me that the G70 (Part # 57700-G9220) and Stinger steering rack (57700-J5220) are in fact the same exact rack?

Long story short, a rodent chewed on the wire harness on my G70's steering rack and Genesis wants to replace the entire rack ($4000). I'm trying to 1) make sure that the G70 & Stinger racks are the same and 2) why the darn wiring harness just can't be replaced.

I searched the Hyundai part number and received Kia results. Make of that what you will.

I can't see how anyone else will be able to give you better information than your service advisor.

Why not just fix the wires instead of buying an entirely new rack?

Genesis says safety issue and will NOT do it. The more strange question is, why not just let me buy the dang harness---but so far no luck.

Also, can somebody please tell me what the part number is on the wire harness on a Stinger steering rack?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Find a shop that will strip, solder, and tape (or heat shrink) the damaged wires... That is all you need. ;)

Agreed, but if I can order a new one or steal one off a car at a salvage yard---it's probably the same price and a better fix.

I can get why the Genesis/Hyundai dealer won't touch it (liability), but a competent independent shop should be able to handle something that simple for not a lot of money.

Agreed. Looking into it. I was at another Genesis Dealer today and they said they would be willing to fix it---when I suggested I may fix it myself, they said that that would affect the warranty on the rack!

Well you were going to have to buy a new rack anyways

Does that surprise you?

Do you disagree with their position on this?

I'm too old to be surprised by anything anymore. What is disappointing is that the only option Genesis (a company that proclaims to deeply care about the environment) is giving me to get the car fixed is to spend $5000 on a rack that isn't broken instead of making the $5 harness available. Just more marketing BS for the masses.
