Hi everyone!

I have been following this forum closely for quite some time now, I also watched probably almost every piece of video available on Youtube for this car... and finally I test drove one last weekend (the 2.0 version, but I think this is what I would buy anyway). I think that I completely fell in love with this car and it will very probably be my next one (some time next year). It helps that this entire community seems so welcoming. I just need to convince my wife and myself that I will be able to use it for family trips (with stroller in the trunk and so on...) ;)

I am currently driving 9th gen Civic so even the 2.0 version would be a big upgrade for me.

This is my first post so I wanted to say hello to everyone but also ask a question: sunroof was always something that I wanted in a car, but the version I drove did not have it. The car dealer told me that the one with sunroof is noticeably noisier inside and he would suggest to avoid it, but I cannot check it for myself. Noise issues are something that I would like to avoid (my current car is very noisy at highway speeds) as much as possible. Is it even possible for anyone to give me an idea how much more noise there is with sunroof? Should I go for it?

Thanks,

I would not say it is noticably noisier with the sunroof closed, but obviously it will be with it open.

Thank you for your reply.
Well, I would imagine that open would be noisier :) sorry if I did not make myself clear. I meant with a closed one.

I have had plenty and do have cars with sunroofs, these newer ones seal so good that you won't hear any extra noise. I'm guessing the salesman didn't have any with sunroofs on the lot? Trying to get you to buy from his stock.

Yeah, they did not have any with sunroofs so that might have been the case. Thanks again for your opinion on this one. When the time for purchase comes I will probably buy one with sunroof.

Simple solution is to find one with a sunroof and drive it. That depends on the model you choose.

Take my word I hear more road noise than sunroof noise. No rattles no wind noise. I can hear some front door pillar noise of the mildest type at speed. If I have my music on lowest volume setting I would hear next to nothing. Love my Stingeer 2.0!

Ditto - sunroof is no louder than no sunroof.

I have not driven a car without a sunroof in some time. I can say that I have no issues with either wind noise or excessive road noise with the Stinger sunroof. I agree it sounds like the guy was trying to sell you a car. I also agree that you should drive one with and without it and make your decision based on actual testing.

Thank you. Yeah, I will try to find one with sunroof nearby. I still need to get back and try fitting my son's stroller in the trunk. It looks wider than my current car's but it is quite shallow.

the amount of room in the back is great. with the cover removed, you do have room, albeit, it is tighter the closer it gets to the rear because of the sloping hatch. as for road noise, i agree with everyone here, try and get a test drive with the sunroof. they seal a whole lot better from years past, that being said, it will be hotter, obviously, if you leave the sunshade open. if at all possible, try and test drive the v6. it is more money, but, from forum members here, several said that they had wished they had held out for the v6, just for the power. either way, you will be getting a great car. not really an apple to apple comparison to the civic. i have owned several honda/acura vehicles and they were all great cars, but the ride of the stinger is, hands down, much better. good luck and welcome to the hive.

Could someone measure the aprox. width and depth of the "trunk", just at floor level?

Sunroof in a car is a bit of meh for me. Don’t really care as I have had them in my Stinger and my Optima and never used it. The 2.0 has got some good reviews so far as performance and handling but make sure you get the top level spec in that engine size. Personally you should drive the 3.3L as it’s a completely different car and is worth the extra cash to get it. If you are buying at this time of the year I would hang off until next years model comes out and buy early 2019 to get a 2019 build date. This years model is already 6 months old so it’s worth waiting. I ordered mine in October 2017 and got it in April 2018 but I suspect you won’t have to wait that long. Good luck!

width at wheel wells 38" depth 41' height to top of rear seat 18" Hope this helps

TY, it does. On the fence whether to keep my Sorento, which I have the 2nd and 3rd row down most of the time, because I take my dogs everywhere, or buy crap that needs the space to bring home more often than I should!

Yeah, I will probably hold off till next year.
I understand what you are saying about the 3.3L models and I thought about finding one to drive (the dealer in my town only had 2.0L, but I can probably find 3.3L easily). I am just afraid that I will not be able to get back to smaller engine :D also this will require additional discussions with the wife as we would be spending more (the difference here between the best 2.0L and 3.3L is almost $17000 so it is significant for me).
I am also a bit afraid how it would behave as a daily car in the traffic (I never had such a strong engine in a car). My wife will be also driving it so not sure how she would find it to handle. I love the looks and equipment so I thought that I settle for the more calm 2.0. I would be lying though if I said that I don't think about the GT version each day :D

Thanks a lot. This is very helpful

I also would like to thank everyone in this thread. You are all so nice :) It makes it even nicer to think about and discuss all things related to Stinger

3.3l is no problem as a daily driver, & won’t take you long to get used to it, $$$ could be a deal breaker though with the Financial Controller (wife). What country are you from, sorry don’t recognise your flag.
