Front license plate and brackets

Hello @ImportSharkMike, has anyone tried one of these puppies yet? If not I'll be happy to buy one and provide pictures/info. From the picture I can't see where it mounts though - where does that rod thingy connect into, the grill?

Its hard to be sure from the picture but I believe that is the one that connects to the threads behind the bumper where you screw in the tow bolt. (Look at the front bumper, there will be a little circle cutout, pop the trim piece out)

There are bound to be other similar “universal” products. One concern that I would have is the length of the arms that slip into the mounting plate. As you can see in my last picture, there isn’t much bumper to mount to before you get to the undercarriage cover. This setup puts the plate very close to the vehicle. If you don’t mind it sticking out further, or feel you can drill an appropriate hole through the arm, a universal mount should be fine.

Hmm, true true. I guess we'll see soon enough. I know there are a good number of the mounting plates, so I'm sure something can also work on the Stinger. The bottom footprint of the bumper only has a small area, but is flat. This shouldn't be difficult to test out. I'm gonna have to give it a looksie when I have a chance...

Replied to your message, thanks. The rod goes into the tow hook location and screws in place.

In Colorado we have to have the front license plate... I've tried being an outlaw with my other cars and paid more $75 tickets than I'd like to admit, so I will need the front plate. Unfortunately the dealer already screwed in their own dealer plate (5 SCREW HOLES!!!!) but that can be fixed without too much effort.

I like the look of an off-center tow-hook bracket, but the location on the stinger looks like it could interfere with the parking sensor. Has anyone tried it yet? Would love to hear some reviews, or other ideas.

Mine has 7 holes. 3 screws that hold the bracket. 2 from the license plate that go all the way through. 2 more holes from punctures behind the holder that are like pegs. Probably to keep it more stable

I have this mounted to the underside of the bumper. I didn't pursue the tow hook mount because I couldn't find a company with plans to produce one with the right threading and bar length.

For the interested, some additional photos. It is the StingerHaus part, orderable through your dealer. It has a quick release. Please forgive the poor photo quality and the dirty car. It started raining on the way home today.

NICE! Thanks for the option. Think it could be installed off to the side of the intercooler? From the sounds of it, the intercooler struggles anyway and I dont really want to block it. Looks like the bolts/screws for installation can be put anywhere?

I don’t see why not. There definitely aren’t holes there already, so as long as there is enough space to screw the mounting plate on I’d think it would work. Might stick out a little further though. If I’m ever pushing her hard enough to be concerned about the intercooler, I’ll just remove the plate until I’m done.

I was initially looking for a tow hook solution, but even the Genesis Coupe brackets that would theoretically fit still give me concern about sensor obstruction. I'm not too concerned about intercooler obstruction in any position, especially since the lower-mount model is removable via quick-release, as @Johnnyfive commented. That said, I actually do like the look of the plate centered on the front bumper, so I've continued to look at no-drill options, even possibly custom-made. I haven't taken the time to figure out how to remove either the upper or lower nose access covers, but it feels like there's sufficient flat surface behind the the honeycomb grill to mount a bracket, such that the plate could sit in the normal factory location, but without drilling the front of the bumper (quick-release might be harder to arrange, but not necessarily impossible). In my searches, I came across two Mustang-specific approaches that might be extendable to the Stinger...

In both of those designs, I really like the rubber backstop to prevent flapping damage to the bumper paint.

Hey Everyone, I'm new to the forum and I've been watching this thread trying to figure out the best solution for the front plate bracket. I found an option that I didn't see mentioned here yet. https://www.slybrackets.com/store/ has a true no drill universal front plate. I installed it yesterday and it fits like a dream. It was a little pricey at $75 USD but now that I've installed it I feel it is worth it. It's very stable and places the plate very close to the intended position without drilling. I'm including a few pictures of my new GT2 with the plate bracket installed so you can see how it fits and looks on the car. Hope this helps!

You're welcome. Glad I could share. Just to add a little more detail. You can see from this page in the instructions the mount point can be installed lower on the grill. The bracket can also be attached to the mount point right side up or upside down. Lastly there is a smaller vertical adjustment that you can make on the sides denoted by the red arrows. I have mine mounted as high as possible on the lower grill. It could easily be moved lower.

I just got my sly bracket last night. It's pricey, but nice. I installed it like the pictures above, but I think with another bracket to hold the plate at the bottom I can get it up higher on the bumper and away from blocking some of the intercooler. If it pans out I'll post pics when I get the bracket next week.

I just installed the slybrackets license mount. The quality of the parts is excellent and installation is easy. I chose to mount it centered in the lower grill.
