@Johnnyfive commented. That said, I actually do like the look of the plate centered on the front bumper, so I've continued to look at no-drill options, even possibly custom-made. I haven't taken the time to figure out how to remove either the upper or lower nose access covers, but it feels like there's sufficient flat surface behind the the honeycomb grill to mount a bracket, such that the plate could sit in the normal factory location, but without drilling the front of the bumper (quick-release might be harder to arrange, but not necessarily impossible).
