Fly and Drive!

I didn’t find any damage after my trip. I’d imagine road conditions and following distances will have a lot to do with how that goes.

Great thread, I enjoyed the detailed write-up of your impressions. Avg speed 86? :D

I've been thinking about doing a fly-and-ride too, it's a favorite of mine when buying motorcycles and now that I'm looking for a Stinger this feels like a great opportunity for a road trip. The farther away the better.

One question I had was about protecting the paint on a long trip. I know chips will happen evetnually, but short of having the protective film applied before pickup or covering the front with painters tape , I haven't come up with anything. I keep reading about paint being a weakness and my experience with very low cars is they are magnets for stones. It would be nice to get it home with minimal damage.

You could always throw a universal bra across the front. It'll be ugly for the trip but the paint should be pristine when you get home.

I flew to Kansas Saturday and drove a new S5 1,100 miles home. I simply made sure to leave a big gap between my car and the cars in front of me.

Film would be easy to have done before you pick it up... and the paint isn't thin as some people believe - there are a few posts about it and it's better than BMW's and Audi's

I think people conflate thin with “not invincible” after spending time pulling draft on every car they follow.;)

If anything the paint is better than Subaru's. I swear that car's paint would chip if you gave it so much as a sideways glance.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I had a 2002 WRX in Sedona Red Pearl. That thing had hundreds of chips by the time I traded it in for my current 2012 Optima EX in Snow White Pearl. Chips on the Kia are still in the single digits, despite almost 130,000 miles.

Dr Color Chip is great for fixing chips easily and invisibly. Hopefully, you'll never need it!

+1 for Dr. Paint Chip, their products helped me stay sane for the 10 years i had my WRX.
