First Time on Track

Not "Wide Open Wednesdays", then. How often are the "serious track days" scheduled? I would only be interested in tracking my car seriously. I don't need the bloody cones, sheesh!? It's not like I am going to go Juan Fangio on everybody. Heh! All I'd do is take proper lines through curves and open it up a bit on the straight parts; early braking, stay off the painted "kerbs", etc. But, how would they know that? This would be a good case of "it's not what you know, it's who you know", in order for me to get out on somebody's track and tool around for a little while. Really, all I'd do is laps, secure in the knowledge that NOBODY is ever coming the opposite way, or side traffic entering, or anything at all but me and my rearview mirrors, so I can get out of the way.

So, Motorsports Park will likely not be my first (if ever) experience on a track. And if it is, it will be sans cones, and only after I have changed my brake fluid/lines out for higher temperature stuff; changed my pads and rotors, and acquired a helmet. :D
I use a site called Motorsportsreg.com which sends me updates of local track stuff. I'm also on the UMC mailing list for events. Those would be your two best bets to figure out when the right event for you will be. I know during the winter they have winter X & winter drift where (if there's actually snow) they don't clear the track and will just let you drift around and have fun.

My favorite part of the day: I thought my car sounded pretty good from inside, of course pretty much everything else was a Mustang, or Camaro or Corvette with their glorious V8's. So my wife took a video of me off the starting line after a Callaway Corvette had left 30 seconds or so before and I couldn't hear anything but some tire squeal:rofl:.

At one point I had used launch control and the starter told me to go so I engaged it and he just stared at me wondering why I hadn't left yet because he couldn't hear my engine revving up as I was prepping to launch:cry:.

Those cones on the track would drive me crazy. The two tracks I’ve been on didn’t do that. They’re not as wide open though. The group that put together the tracks days did have a few rules to keep your speed down. Especially if you’re inexperienced.

Yeah WOW (Wide Open Wednesday) is more of a chance for people that don't have track experience to have a chance to drive around. They don't let you on the track with other people, they space out your releases. It's a good way to get your feet wet if you've never been on a track.

They were having a classic car show at the track and they just happened to be running WOW that day so I decided to do it. It was still fun but it would have been better without the nannies obviously.

Your engine does sound good in the lap video. So, all piped into the cabin; "stealth mode" outside. :P

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I would always try to forget that it was mostly fake from the inside lol.

Wow those cones look annoying...I would hate running a session with those kinds of hindrances. I understand they do that to limit speeds but that really looks frustrating.

Thankfully they don't do that at my home track.
