This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

I'm in the final year of the original five year warranty period. Has anyone considered purchasing an extended warranty from either Kia or a 3rd party?

Generally I am fine with covering unexpected expenses myself but the only thing that worries me are the electronics as they get unnaturally expensive to replace once the car gets to be a certain age.

It might be too late to get the actual kia Canada-offered warranty, but if I’m wrong, I say go for it if you plan to keep the car long term. Just know the specifics of what the ext warranty will cover, then decide. I would want coverage for the electronic things like the power lift gate, electronic suspension, electric steering and the power seats.

What is the mileage on your car? Is everything in good running order right now? Have you ever done a service at the stealership called an induction cleaning?

All you can do is call your dealership finance department and ask. Usually it's cheaper to buy when you first get the car.

I'm in a similar situation to the OP. While a little less than 4 years into ownership, I have under 7,000 km left before I hit the 100K mark and completely run out of warranty. Speaking to my Kia dealer, I'm looking at about $3,400 for another 3 years/60,000 km. I've only just started checking out 3rd party options, but obvi is about $2,400 for the same 3/60 coverage.

I'd be curious to the thoughts of other here as to the value of spending an additional $1,000 to go with the Kia Protect extended warranty vs. a third party. I've never purchased a third party warranty but do have some concerns about needing the warranty coverage be approved by the Kia dealership prior to the work being started. Any input?

Is that bumper to bumper or just powertrain.

That’s for bumper to bumper.

^^You sure? I recall reading the infotainment is only covered for 3 years... at least here in the US.

If it's the Kia 5 Star warranty your pretty much covered for everything except for brakes, tires, wipers, wear and tare items. I had to use it on my Kia Optima for some suspension work. Would have been about $3k out of pocket if I didn't have it. Kia bundles their parts, so even if you only need a piece you've got to pay for the whole unit. The service advisors know what's covered, what's not so they'll tell you on the spot.
