I have the oval akrapovic style tips. I’ve run the round ones too and it’s fine if they’re touching the diffuser as long as they’re dual wall which most of the carbon ones are.
Question about installing tips. Once I disconnect the originals from the bumper, can I just slide them back on the muffler then disconnect the muffler from the rubber isolator so it hangs down and I can slide them of?

Yes, once you take off the fake oem tips that are screwed onto the bumper.
With aftermarket oval tips, able to slip the tips right over.
With aftermarket rounds tips, you would need to cut and trim the opening 1st, before slipping the tips over
I was all set to grab those 63x105 tips off AliExpress, didnt really consider shipping when I got to my cart...
Are you guys really paying like $150 for a set of $9 tips x4? They want like $115 in shipping... I understand it's coming from China but that's insane to fork over... how is there no US option for something so basic as an exhaust tip with these average dimensions?
Is there any alternative to aftermarket tips... maybe somehow filling the gap between the aftermarket muffler and the factory tip? There's gotta be a better way...

I did the "Drone fix" option which can be found somewhere in this thread. I don't have time to find it right now but it's earlier on in the thread. It entails wrapping the pipes with muffler wrap, stuffing it into the inside of the tip and clamping it all down. Sounds like a lot but its really easy. Completely eliminated the drone from the Borla. Then I painted the tips gloss black...

For sure. you really can’t see it from the back unless your up super close, on your knees looking into the tip. The wrap is black and it’s positioned into the very back of the tips and clamped down. I’ve had the pipes wrapped for over 2 years and no issues. And I like the OEM tips..fits the overall shape of the car well although the round tips look great too..can’t go wrong.
Just wanted to link the video to make it easier to find for late comers, I went back through til I found it lol...
So you just wrapped all 4 pipes like this guy did with his 2... just like exhaust pipe wrap from an auto parts store? This may be the way I end up going since AliExpress is quoting me 1.5-2 months for delivery of the tips, and they want $100 for shipping.
Is the drone gone completely, or just reduced? How about like... going up hill or on the highway where the engine is sitting at like 1800-2300 or so?

Thanks for hunting that down. Yeah I did exactly what he did and it works great. I bought the exhaust wrap and the u-bolts off of Amazon..pretty cheap from what I remember. I was about to go back to stock after hearing the drone (Borla) so I Sound proofed the truck with dynomat, did this fix and the drone is not an issue anymore. Believe me…my wife would tell me everyday if it was bothersome lol
Got a quick question. For my aftermarket exhaust, the pipes for the tips are 2.25" (basically 57mm).. the company said the outside diameter of these pipes is 58mm. So for the inlet size selection for the exhaust tips on AliExpress, should I go with 57mm or 60mm? I'm not sure if you're supposed to match the inside diameter of the exhaust pipe with the inlet size, or if you're supposed to go one size up (in this case 60mm) to account for the pipe wall thickness. Logic tells me to go a size up, but from this thread, it seems like the inlet size selections on AliExpress are intended to account for the pipe wall thickness and just want you to go with what your exhaust pipe inside diameter is. I read through this thread, but couldn't find a clear-cut answer on this specific question. I would appreciate guidance from someone who's ordered these, because I'd rather get it right the first time than possibly have to make a return after waiting a month or more for shipping! Thanks.

I would say stick with the 57mm to match the exhaust diameter. I've ordered four sets of 63mm inlet tips over the past couple years for my MBRP exhaust (2.5") and they have all fit perfectly.

When I ordered mine, I found that if I ordered two tips, the shipping was like $25. If I ordered 4, then the shipping was like $85.
I ended up ordering two sets of two in separate orders, $50 total shipping. Funny thing, they all came together in the same shipment.
Any detailed directions on how to fasten the wrap? I get the exhaust clamp as a backer but how do you wrap it so the hose clamp holds it all together?
Also, did 1 roll do it?
I’m half way through the mbrp install, x-pipe is on, stopped there for the night.
Getting the stock system off was a pain, the rear nuts back by the muffler were really gd stuck, I had a 3ft bar on them and it was still difficult. I dunno wtf. One of the studs started spinning in its place because of how much force was necessary to turn them… so I’m gunna have to cut that one. Just dropped the middle pipe and passenger muffler as one piece for the time being.
I guess the splines in the pipe went bye bye but I’ll confront that if I ever put the stock setup back on.

I used these…can’t recall the size I used but they’re adjustable (obviously) so I just wrapped the pipes, slipped these over the wrap, tightened them down, slid all of it into the tips and backed it with the U bolts. And yes, I bought 1 50 ft roll and that was just enough. I
