Eventual new stinger owner

Yeah. Is it even worth changing the exhaust on it? Or will it be useless without a tune or jb4?

You will still get gains without, any other mods and it sounds better... the factory one is just a tad bit mild for most tastes

Coming from an optima hybrid then optima sxt... The stock one sounds amazing lol

Thanks. How about variable exhaust?
Variable exhaust is coming this summer for the MY22.
Please read this thread about it: MY22 Canada Stinger

Do expect a significant price increase for the refresh model. The new Kia Stinger GT Elite (replacement of the current GT Limited from my perspective) will be around 3k more vs the current limited and there will not be any rebate until a while for the refresh.

Last year you could get a GT Limited new for around 46k CAD, these days difficult to get them much below 50K. Expect the refresh GT Elite to be sold near MSRP so 55K CAD...

MSRP for MSRP the refresh model is not that expensive considering new Exhaust, new technologies but also considering CAD curency is not very strong, price inscrease because of Covid19 etc.

A small update. I ended up getting the K5 GT in wolf grey instead. I know... Not a stinger but a hell of a car nonetheless.

Congratulation, now you will need to find how to put that power to the ground. I seem to be the big problem with the K5 GT even with stock power since they omitted to put LSD up front...

On this platform handling and traction mods will be a must before any performance modifications. Would be nice to be able to fit in an LSD...

Very true. In sport+, I make the tires spin in 3rd. Sonata N line managed 13.6 1/4 mile and 5.0 0-60 with stickier tires than those p zeros I got with the K5. Great numbers for this platform. Tires and springs are on my radar. But the drop I'm aiming for is .500" to .700"... Just a subtle clean drop.

Is this you? (JK) The only one I've caught on camera. That's the same color as yours, right?

Nope..
Not me. Besides, that's the GT line. The GT has quad tips exhaust. I'm. The only one in the whole province so far with the GT.

The little flourishes make it stand out: the tips, of course, but also the four "bladed" diffuser with accents (or maybe just the way the light is hitting it); the longer reflectors, the "GT" badge (which is identical to ours, which I think is rather cool).

After looking at your pic, it's not a gt line either. Lx or ex. But as you stated, diffuser is not the same either.

Without going looking, do you know/remember how many K5 trims there are, and which one is the AWD? Are the lower trims 2L and the upper 2.5L?

Gt is 2.5t and all others are 1.6t. Gt line and ex I believe have awd options. But not the GT.

That is so strange; to not make the bigger engine AWD. What is the reasoning behind that?

When the Stinger came out, was the Optima losing sales? I didn't see it that way. The K5 is the "Optima refresh". I don't think that they overlap much because people who buy the Stinger want something different. If the K5 2.5L gets AWD that would only boost K5 sales, not reduce Stinger sales.

Here the stinger GT is 5k more than the K5 GT. That's one of the hypotheses.

Is there an AWD variant of the DCT? That might be one of the reason.
Just a proper LSD, PS4s and tweaks like the Civic type R to manage torque steer would be miles better already.

I do not see a front wheel drive mass market FWD based sedan platform being a big competition (even in AWD form) to a RWD based GT car. Unless for people caring about some numbers on a sheet of paper... those drive completely different. Hopefully for KIA this car will steal sales from Accord Touring, Altima V6, Camry XLE.

I think that even if the Stinger being in a different category it is also stealing sales from the Accord Touring, Altima, Camry etc. because people see it as a way to upgrade in performance category without a big change in budget that BMW / Audi and the like would ask.

I'm sure audi has dct with s3, rs3...
The stinger is a different car altogether I agree. Who knows why kia doesnt have the option for awd with the K5GT.

It shouldn't be too difficult since a similar 8dct is used in the santa fe and sorento now with awd... i'm sure packaging/cost/performance to close to the new 2.5 stinger if it gets awd was all reasons.
