I recently purchased a '22 GT1 and noticed that the valves aren't opening when in Sport mode. The car sounds pretty much the same as all other modes. Is there something I am missing here? Do they open up at higher RPM or should they open at idle because they definitely look shut in Sport mode.

There are valves in the outside pipes - you can see from the back. In Sport mode, the left one opens up at idle and the right one stays closed. At throttle, it sounds like they are both open. When not under throttle, I hear very little difference -- under throttle it is noticeable.

It seems like during a cold start when the temperatures are below freezing that both valves are open until the engine temperature starts to come up. A few weeks ago, I started the car to get the interior warm, and about 2-3 minutes into the cycle it seemed like the sound got quieter, more like a normal idle. Note that this was AFTER the idle had already dropped to the normal speed.

If the valves are working it is quite noticeable even under partial throttle. Mine didn't work either and it turned out there was a TSB to correct it. It was just a software update the dealer performed.

Do you have any details on the TSB?

This doesn't appear to apply to my June 21 build GT1. I really can't really hear any difference in sound between comfort and sport at the same RPM in the same gear, whether on the highway or at idle. I know the valves open and close, I can see them open when the engine is off and I can see that they're closed when the engine is on. It also seems like when weather is cold and the car is sold that the valves DO stay open when I first start the car.

Mine would stay open on cold starts as well, but would close immediately. I can't say I can hear the exhaust well when traveling on the highway, but even a little throttle on the street is very noticeable.

Mine is a Jan 2022 build so it fell in with TSB, but just because it doesn't list your build dates doesn't mean that it is not affected. They just don't have a campaign yet.

I'll have to ask the dealer about this specifically
