Hey there,

just for clearance: Yeah, this is someone writing from germany, so my question is actually a real-life based question, not only theoretically ;).

I put on the summer tires couple days ago and wanted to drive it out on the good old german Autobahn. Specially picked an autobahn part with some downhill for extra bonus on the max speed.
Although the car reached the 270 without any problems, it maxed out on 274 on the speedo and even depreciated on 272 (169mph). I also measured 272 on GPS. It didn't ran against a wall, but i could feel it kind of cut of the boost pressure or somthing. IMHO it should've reached 280-285 easily on that part of the autobahn.
I did actually google a lot, but couldn't find about an electrical speed limiter. Can anyone clear me about this?! Is the GT limited on 270 (168mph)?!

For clearance: Car has K&N Air Filters and Bastuck exhaust.

Yes, there is a speed limiter. An ECU tune can have it raised to practically any speed you want. Lozic automatically put mine at 300 KMH, but said he can raise it more than that.
I'm not sure what the vehicle is actually mechanically limited to, but I feel it's probably right around there.

I believe it has to do with the factory tires. The window sticker on my 2021 GT2 lists:
19" Alloy Wheels w/ Michelin All-Season Tires
- Reduces Top Speed to 149 MPH

Cars in germany dont get delivered with all-season tires. You always have 2 pairs for summer&winter.

@AdrianG thx for fast response. so i'm pretty right with my rumours... i want to get a decent dyno tuning on the car, goal should be around 500. now i have another thing on the list, which has to be changed :)

Welcome! Dont bother getting it dyno tuned, many have tried and all have failed to produce results even similar to what the big players in the stinger game can achieve. Most dyno seem to come out around the 430whp mark, which can be achieved pretty easily with a JB4. I recommend Sxth element engineering or Lap3 for your ecu tuning needs.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Things really run different in germany, you have to remind that :).
Of course there are also Tuning-boxes, but those are the worst you can do to your cars over here. If you want to have stable and reliable tuning, you gotta go to serious tuners and do the programming on the rolls. I already have one in sight, which already puts crazy numbers out of an stock car.
And still to remember: We have diabolic TÜV rules and OPF exhaust-filtering, additionally to the normal catalyst.

yeah... for now. But it's getting dark at the horizon. Politics and citizens start to loose support for unlimited tracks. I think there's another max. 5 years until it's finally over and we're limited to the european standard of 130km/h (81mph)...

Itll take days to get places at that velocity!!!

Feel free to prove me wrong

Nono, i absolutely don't doubt your expression. But we don't have the same possibilities as you or even the rest of the world outter germany has, cuz everything has still to be legal. So the changes on the car mustn't be too big, no downpipe, no cat delete, no opf delete. I cant even put another exhaust without legal ECE permit. Otherwise they're allowed to decommission and even take away the car if the police finds out i'm not playing by official TÜV rules.
That's why we're pretty cutted in relation to tuning and expectable number from tuning boxes. The most tuning boxes don't hold what they promise in germany. And the best results come out of dyno tunings from well-known big tuners, who know what they're doing and read out numbers and logs properly and put that out in good mappings, specially made for every single car.
that's why i'm cautious in case of Tuning boxes :).
But i did my homework after you wrote about Lozic and JB4 and i'm interested and will continue reading and weigh the dis-/advantages about different tuning methods on the Stinger.
Germany is really based on german cars. Oh boy, there are tooooons of tuning firms, legal mappings, legal boxes, legal exhausts etc. for Audi, Golf, BMWs, Seat, Skoda and what they're all called. But sadly not much for japan or korean cars.

Assuming perfect conditions, 239mph at 6500rpm in 8th. The list I attached was calculated using the gear ratios, final drive I could find online and the tire size.

Interesting. Much higher than I would have thought. Thanks for that.

I wonder what the aerodynamic limit might be. Certainly less than 239 MPH.

I remember reading an article of the former production car land speed record by Koenigsegg in Pahrump, NV. They explained the tires were spinning 10% faster than the car was moving as it pushed against the wind resistance.

interesting. from memory, I was at c. 5,000 rpm at 155 mph in 7th gear. that fits the chart.

Well, in your case, The JB4 is currently regarded as the "Gold Standard" for Tuning boxes, as yes it has various maps and whatnot, but it can also allow for very detailed logging and Methanol/Charge pipe injection control, built right into the box. Combine that with a Back end flashed tune from Sxth Element Engineering, and you have a very, very fast combo to work with.
