I would HIGHLY recommend you get new rotors when you get new pads. Apparently the stock rotors can't be safely turned because they're composite rather than iron, when I put new pads on the old unturned rotors it caused nothing but problems. I ended up having to pay for an entire new brake job to put rotors on.And these will be fine for full time street driving and 2x a year track? When will I know that my stock rotors need to be changed?
I installed red stuff up front about 2 months ago. Dust isn't too bad, braking is solid, but they still squeek fairly often which is getting annoyingDo you have experience with any other brake pads? I am a bit torn between redstuff, yellowstuff, Hawk HPS 5.0, and Centric Posi Quiet.
Sweet, we have carbon brake rotors!I would HIGHLY recommend you get new rotors when you get new pads. Can't speak for track, but the Magic has been fantastic for street driving. Girodisc has a Street/Strip pad and EBC makes EBC Yellow for track, which is dustier but might be better on the track.
+1 Where the hell did you hear that you can't turn the rotors? There's nothing special about them, they are steel like everyone else's rotors.I would HIGHLY recommend you get new rotors when you get new pads. You can turn the oem rotors find a new shop..
I'm using Z26. The initial change is great, but on my stock rotors, the shimmy is still present, but more muted than before. Hoping that by replacing rotors will eliminate. The only negative on the pads is that they clunk when changing direction and then braking once. I think they are just a bit loose in the caliper or I did something wrong when installing.Anyone using Powerstop Z23 pads?
I have Z26 with new rotors. Very smooth and no shimmies. Mine will clunk typically with the first brake after sitting for a while.I'm using Z26. The manufacturer change the pads about a year ago on the fronts, if you have the old ones they shift inside the caliper. You have to get the new ones and make sure they are the correct ones before you order.I'm using Z26.
