So, Personally I think the best upgrade you can do for your stinger are upgrading the
Spark Plugs to the
HKS Plugs, as they are pretty much needed for all applications to make more power without risking engine damage, HOWEVER, Besides the Plugs, I have given below what I believe is the best "First Mod" you can do to the Stinger based off of what kind of events/driving you like to do.
Drag Racing -
If you're a drag racer, the best mod you can do is either a brake snip mod if money is an issue, or a Tuned TCU from any of the reputable tuners out there (Tork, Lap3, Lozic) as both allow for smoother shifts, quicker shifts, and most importantly, the ability to actually build boost using Launch control, which can lead to Much quicker 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times even with a completely stock car.
Roll Racing -
More power. a piggyback like the JB4 is totally fine for an easy 50 to 60whp bump with little to no other
mods, However if you really want to fly, a tuned ECU from any of the reputable tuners here are your best bet for making loads of power and torque for these cars.
Track racing/Autocross/canyon runs -
A swaybar upgrade from a company like eibach will allow the car to stay more planted around corners as it will eliminate a large amount of the bodyroll that these beasts have, and it will really help your times improve.
GT driving with the occasional Need 4 Speed on the highway -
Upgrade your brakes! Replacing the stock rotors and pads on the stinger is widely considered one of the first
mods you should do regardless of how you drive, as it will eliminate the Pulsing that WILL happen eventually to every single stinger that has the factory pads on it because of dust build up. Upgraded brakes will also allow you to stop better when that person that you just passed decided to be an A**hole and pass you just to brake check you.
*Cough* EBC make great front and rear sets of pads for the stinger.
All for Show -
if looks is all you're after, then personally, I believe that the CK71's DRLs are the best first mod you can do, as they are easy to install, will work with EVERY single other visual mod you could do, allow for more of the road to be viewed at night better, AND really boost the overall presence of the stinger. (Which is really ironic, because its one of the
mods that I have not done yet LOL)
Driving Like a Grandma -
Sell your stinger to an enthusiast and get a K5, they have a softer ride with better gas mileage, and still look pretty good!
On a serious note though, See the "GT driving" section, as the same logic applies.
