Drivers seat - side scuffing badly

to back up my earlier claim, zoom in on the seat and you will see where the leather is literally deteriorating. Again, I've had the car for a month now. And of course you can see this is not a singular issue with just the red leather. Not sure if I have nappa leather or not but like previously mentioned, I have the base model. I'm gonna take it to the Kia dealer this weekend to have them check it out I think.

That really sucks, hope they do something about this if it becomes a common issue, they should extend warranty on these parts or recall them if these examples keep popping up. Months into owning a vehicle should not show this severe wear, base models are not nappa leather.

Update: My pathetic dealer (Southland Kia Victoria) doesnt have a loan car available for a whole frigging month - spend $65k on car and be kept waiting...KIA sucks.

Try another dealer!
Ironically its the most convenient plus they have "the part". Going to email the sales manager who sold me the car to let him know I'm not happy.

Also, my hatch is now squeaking so they can fix that whilst its there. Betcha they'll need to order a part even though I've advised them.... Great car irrespective of these issues.

It doesn't get better, that's for sure!

As of 2 weeks ago I was 100% on purchasing a GT2 @ years end. Either a 2019 or 2018. But after all the talk about a horrible quality seat on a 50k+ vehicle had me now rethinking and looking at other options. The only problem is 50k is my budget and a vehicle comparable to the GT2 for my budget does not exist. So buy a 2018 and deal with warranty and service dept. Or fingers crossed that this is fixed for the 2019 model year.

Man, I hope this is resolved for all that has this problem. This is unacceptable for any automobile!

I was worried about 2 things concerning the Stinger: viability and the leather. I'll be watching to see if this is a QC issue that affects some or some sort of design/material flaw.

I'd still buy it! Whilst it's annoying (and its one of the trivial annoyances I've had with KIA_Au through this journey) the car makes up for it - just back from a 200 km jaunt through the outskirts of melbourne and I'm reminded how good the car actually is....

Glad to hear Madman you still loving the car despite this inconvenient setback.........

what about the Q60 red 400hp
Optioned out to compare to the Gt2 close to 60 k although they do give a 360 camera. I also really like the hatch on the stinger.

I just think it' unacceptable. I get agitated when my seats get scuffed after 5 years much less a couple weeks or a couple months. For 50k (that' a ot of money for me) I can't do it unless the issue is resolved. I have gotten past all the other issues but not this one.

Oh, please don't think I've accepted it at all, I let them know my thoughts at the time (when I was the only one at the time with the problem) and i'll certainly let them know again when I drop it off. They're repairing it under warranty and they'll keep repairing it if it happens again. It is Gen1 of a brand new vehicle type and on scale of things that could potentially go wrong from "worn seat to blown turbo" I'd rather be where I am....I've had several cars in the past with issues including multiple recalls (Aurion TRD) and once had a BMW 120i which spent at least a quarter of our life together in the shop.

Good luck to you, as I said I hope this is resolved on 2019 model year but definitely standing back from 2018.

Might me a good idea being conscious on entering your vehicle without putting pressure on that stop until it becomes a unconscious movement. o_O And also maybe a good idea to keep that area with a conditioner barrier often as a precaution.

Was Looking to buy a GT2 soon also, but I’ve the same concerns now.
All my comparisons have brought me back to the Stinger, but real life issues this early in the game are causing me to reconsider.
At $50k this cannot be accepted and then have to deal second rate dealership experience at same time.
