New SSR DPs are $490. There is a lightly used set for sale in the forum store for $400 though.
JB4 doesn't need new plugs. You can use your stock plugs re-gapped. I've done so for 9k miles on maps 2 and 3.
I don't know about the DPs but your wife wont notice a huge difference with the JB4 unless she accelerates aggressively. Normal driving remains normal.
As much as I know DPs are a great power gainer there still is no comparison to the JB4.
The JB4 will easily run low 12s, but a quick switch to “Valet” map 4 basically puts it into ECO mode at half stock boost levels. Personally, this is the only way I would have anyone but myself drive my Stinger.
This will give you the best of both worlds and since you can turn it on and off on the fly, just set as needed.
Map 0=Stock & high 12s
Map 1=Extra fun & easy 12.7s
Map 2=More fun & solid mid 12s
Map 3=Wow power & low 12s
Map 4(ECO style)=Safe power & high 13s
Map 5-8=OMG power & 11s if tires would hook up
There are a few videos doing it without removing the manifold and makes it a much easier job.
But if you don’t want to, a good mechanic should do it in about an hour. I think $100-$150/hr is fair and might be worth it as I heard the plague is worse.
I thought I was the only one. I've been running a jb4 for months on map 1 only because I don't want to deal with the plugs. I can only imagine how much extra power I'm missing out on.
I also have ssr downpipes collecting dust in my garage because I don't have time to deal with them either. This is why I always say I need a personal assistant...

With the jb4 on, is there a difference (gain?) in hp/tq running the "DENSO high performance spark plugs" over the gapped factory plugs? A difference in longetivity?

I don’t think there is a performance gain as far as horsepower but what there is a gain in safety net running the colder plugs with higher boost ..... its more of a safety blanket and longevity... you can run the oem plugs gapped down but no need to cheap out on this car you might as well put the better plugs and be done with it ....especially if you getting a tune or piggyback which will turn up the boost ...

Yeah I think so too...considering they're only 60 bucks and that I'll definitely be getting the job done by my specialized shop, it's pretty much a no brainer! On the other hand, what will the Kia dealership say when (should I say IF?) they'll notice the high performance SP? I'll surely unplugged the JB4 before getting to the dealership...Do you guys think we might get into trouble with Kia?

They won’t notice the spark plugs .... unless they need to replace them for whatever reason .... so you will be completely fine I take my car for service all the time and all I do is take the jb4 out .... you will have no issues at all man they will not check the spare plugs when you bring it In For service and even if they did they can’t do shit lol that won’t void your warranty ... unless you blow your motor and you take the car in with those spark plugs then I think they might check lol but no worries and if that is the case you put the oem back on lol you will be fine

Why would they do that? Other than a single post I saw about someone who had spark plug issues (but didn't reply to a request to share the details), I've never seen another problem noted with the stock plugs on a stock engine.

Normally the plugs will only become an issue after 30k miles or so, they are a good brand but pretty brittle. I think it will be a tsb to GAP down the stock ones. But then again they are running a pretty rich WOT map (around 10.5) so the wide gap may benefit from that.
Naturally, it'd be best to go both. However, my vote goes to downpipes first. It's a "permanent" mod that will constantly benefit you indefinitely and won't require any maintenance updates or any adjustments as you continue modding down the road. I always go for the physical bolt ons before I touch the electronics.
