I need to leave my Stinger in a public parking lot for a week with fears of some $%#& dinging my car. I normally park in the middle of nowhere and next to a curb if possible. But, this time it will be out of my control.

Just today, my wife's car (a Chevy Volt) got dinged...we saw it happen, luckily there was no damage.

I found these and I was wondering if anyone else has used them? Any thoughts?

hmm.. never thought about a door protector. Did you guys pick those up at the dealer for the same colour? Any aftermarkets other than the OP's link.

I can see the functionality but I personally feel it spoils the body line. It is also so thin that you would be still open to dings from other various door heights.

I’m having a crack at making my own, looks simple enough and will cost 20% of the price they are asking.

I've seen ones made from pool noodles that are less than $10 to make. However, they don't looks quite a nice. Not that the ones I posted really look that nice either...

The ones that I posted have magnets which keep them held against the car. I think the pool noodle idea would bounce around with a breeze.

I feel the trim moldings will not protect well enough. They look okay, but I'd like better protection.

I'd love to hear other ideas....

I have three dings on my Sorento and none are where they would have been prevented by those color-matched moldings. They are all higher and were caused by truck and/or SUV doors.

If you're that concerned about possible damage, perhaps park somewhere you feel is safer, and walk or take a cab to the final destination.

Whenever possible, I park away from everyone. Not being an jerk, I don't take up two spots. I'll walk the extra distance. Usually, next to a curb where at least one side is protected. Unfortunately, there are occasions where you have to park where there is risk. Inevitably, some low-life will ding ya.

When mine are made I will post the pics and share the construction method. It’s not looks I’m after just functionality.

I know you cant prevent all door dings but if I can prevent %50 of it I'm for it. I actually cause a lady "leaning" her door against my door and it actually hit the molding.

My wife and I are assigned parking in a parking deck for work. I ordered side moldings for her 2011 Sportage EX shortly after purchasing new.
They definitely help as hers show wear and tear from contacts that would have been major dents in the sides. I had them on my previous car DD that I traded for the Stinger.
I currently have moldings for my son's 2014 Corolla S that need to be installed, and yesterday they arrived for my 2019 Hichroma Red Stinger. (first thing I bought for it)
Nothing will protect a car from all dings, and dents, but these do help in my situation.

I purchased all from Sportwing.com,

This is my approach to dent prevention :)

Edit: Ok, scrub that, the forum does not allow me to post any pictures.
Not much point in me being here, then.

Good Bye!

You have to have a minimum number of posts before you can upload pics. Merp.

What do you all do to protect the molding?
