Don't like the Interior sound

While I agree that aritficial engine sounds pumped into the cabin take from the experience, I like a good sounding exhaust without being obnoxiously loud and that does not intrude and take from the from the comfort fo driving it.

P.S: @Mike_TX are you the same Mike from fresh alloy forums?
Yep, that's me!

Fully agree. Can't understand why anybody wants fake vroom vroom sounds piped inside. It's beyond stupid. I asked the rep to kill the sound before I took delivery which he did now it's blissful silence, the quietest car I have ever experienced. Now I'm not anti-exhaust note at all. A good blast from a proper exhaust set up like in my Volvo is electrifying but not the tape loop please.

How do you turn it off completely? Have not seen actual instructions for that yet. Menu only allows it to be minimized. Real sound or nothing for me...

I’ve also test driven a GT2 w/AWD. Half the drive was set to the fake pumped in engine sound. We pulled over, and the dealer guy knew exactly where in the menu it was to turn it off. We did so, and the ride was much better in the second half.

Most dealers are being very well trained in the Stinger - your sales person should have learned this car by now. Lazy rep...

Turned it OFF, or used the menu to set it to Minimized? That would still be better, but it's not off.

From what I can tell, changing that setting only changes it when you're using the CUSTOM setting.

+1 on the post below and this thread.

I was totally psyched to buy a GT2 but after every test drive I came away with a dull throbbing in my ears that I feel is related to the engine note (I think o had something similar when I tried the Jaguar fpace).

I decided to hold off as I don't think I'll enjoy the cabin if I can't disable the piped in noise.

I test drove a GT2 2 days ago. I drive a sonata turbo right now.

I have to say that I was quite impressed with the GT2 ride / acceleration. However, I thought the engine sound was a bit loud for my preference. I don't really get why people in the US like the loud, headache inducing engine sound to the point of installing aftermarket exhausts.

I don't know if the some of the engine sound during the test drive was being synthesized. Played around with the settings and couldn't figure out how to change the synthesized sound...and the sales rep had no idea how to do it either.

In any case, am I in the minority here to say that I prefer a quite car?

I always drive in Custom mode. The exhaust sound amplification is only in Sport mode, I think. The car is acceptably quiet on the highway at 75mph in Custom mode at near 2K RPM.

I've owned a GT2 for a month now and am quite pleased with it. I also drive in Custom mode and have the sound settings turned down to low. The sound doesn't bother me.

Some of the other gripes I have with the car is that it doesn't remember your settings once you turn off the car. i.e I have to turn on the auto hold every time. It also default starts at comfort setting and I have to change it to custom...i know, first world problems haha.

May I ask why you need auto hold on by default? Isn't it intended to be an occasional use thing?

The revert to Comfort annoys most people, but we know it's due to fuel economy promises. The car has generally poor fuel economy and it would be even worse if left in sport/custom mode, so they can't meet EPA requirements if they let us ruin it by default.

I think the fuel economy is great compared to my Mustang and Sorento. I'm getting about 22.5 MPG with 75% city driving. For 365HP, that's darn good. That is with it in comfort mode and ISG on

Wow, if I drive with an extremely light foot (never exceeding 2,000 rpms) I can't get close to that in city driving. Might hit that number if lucky for a total tank of mixed 60 city/40 highway.

The fuel economy report at the end of each drive is great. Learned in another thread how to set that to per trip. That's also how I know how bad the fuel economy is.

It started out bad (@19)but has gotten better with each tank. running 93 octane.

Why does it have to be occasional use? Is their a safety reason? I just prefer it on...allows me to relax the foot off the pedal at stops.

The fuel economy i'm getting is around 21 averaged over a tank. But that involves about 1.5 hours of driving a week with cruise control on at highway speeds. Otherwise city driving is pretty poor economy.

I definitely enjoy the sound of the Corsa exhaust with the V8 LS1 engine, but I wish I was the only one that heard it. It's a shame how loud an exhaust has to be to be heard in the cabin, because everyone outside the car hears it a lot louder. I haven't been impressed with the Stinger's sound so I'm looking forward to turning the setting down and just enjoying music with my speed.

I have a Corsa cat back on the Camaro with TSP headers and love it, but I'd like some peace and quiet sometimes especially when going for long drives.

Wait - I missed this post. Do you know how the dealer killed the sound? I am very interested in that as I have been told it could not be done...any details would be amazing.

I suspect "killing" the sound meant turning it down to "minimize," not actually disabling it. But let's see--maybe there is a new update that adds the "OFF" setting that should have always been there from the start (and is there in the sister Genesis G70).

or maybe something has figured out something along these lines?

We'd be lucky if it was a single fuse. But even before pulling the fuse, I'd like to know how it is supposed to work. The UI setting doesn't seem to affect only Custom mode and the whole thing is just unintuitive and dumb. I'm also waiting for the OFF switch for auto-locking the doors.

Anyone have ideas on how something similar to this (the fuse idea) might be accomplished in the Stinger?
