Some car manufacturers have a limit like a maximum of 200 launch controls for example. Does Kia do that as well? I'd say I did launch control about 80-90 times now and I'm just anxious.

How hot your trans gets. That's the only limit mentioned in the owner's manual. LC will turn OFF if the trans fluid is too hot.

I’ve read almost the whole manual and remember that part. I guess Kia didn’t add a limit because launch controlling the Stinger doesn’t put as much stress on the it compared to other cars? Because it launches at 2K rpm whereas most other manufacturers do it at 4K-5K.

Yes, that is it exactly. The c. 2K RPM launch ceiling really annoys some drivers who compare the Stinger to "real launch control" in those other models. :D I've used LC maybe a dozen times, if that. I prefer to just mash the Go Pedal and engage the kickdown switch, then shift up as the needle passes 5K RPM; in 1st and 2nd gears, the RPMs climb to c. 6K RPM as the upshift happens.

Kia's version of launch control is pretty weak, although that isn't surprising on a vehicle they warrant for 100,000 miles in some countries. So, no restriction on how many times you can use it.

Ive got almost 20k miles in 20 months of ownership and I still have not tried LC! Where do you guys practice this? I don't feel like there's a spot good for this here.

Lol, I’m home sleeping at that hour!

Any stop light with you and the Stinger in Pole Position (lane ahead wide open), and at least a 50 MPH speed limit. :D Just don't forget to back off at 60.

Anyone know what temp that is?

I do them mostly at stop lights. It’s very easy to race here because most stop lights have a timer and you can get launch control ready before it turns green.

I've never used LC or the kick down switch. Figured those practises would place excess wear on the drivetrain.
I plan on maintaining this piece of excellence machinery forever.

The feature wouldn't be included if it wasn't meant to be used but I know what you mean.
