Y’all unplug the JB4 prior to dealership service appts? One of my dealerships didn’t care 2 years ago (haven’t been back there since bc newer one opened near me) but then the closer dealership made me unplug the JB4 — BUT then again they were doing the recall fix too. Your experiences?

I suppose if you're going there for something not jb4 related then it shouldn't matter. If you're getting P0300's or such, then yes, I'd say it matters. Does the jb4 do anything transmission related (shift points, awd engagement, etc)?

I just use the JB4 for plug n play. I do have the its EWG add on connectors too. My car only has about 25k miles and haven’t brought it in for any routine servicing in forever…

And you're worried about a plug and play warranty issue? The slack servicing would risk your warranty more than a JB4.

I take my JB4 out. I only took my car once and that was for the recall. I do my own maintenance.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
^^^ This. If I can't do it myself I take it to a local mechanic who could care less about mods. Alignment, Tires, etc. Other than recalls, avoid any dealership!

FOLKS - you are so right it hurts about not relying on these Kia dealerships and therefore to find a good mechanic and/or DIY. Evidently I need to find new friends and social circles in LA bc no one seems to have any recs. I’ve also already gone through a few bouts of googling too. But I won’t give up said search. But in the meanwhile I am relegated to Kia. May the energy of Merkin The Mad not become a self-fulfilling prophecy!

Check out Concept III
It’s close to LA I take my stinger there

just looking at the title of this thread and I thought I would add that most dealers probably love the JB4...because they can deny any warranty work going forward, LOL! Hope Concept III works out for you. a trusted mechanic is hard to find.

Not sure the dealer cares about denying warranty work. They get reimbursed from Kia for it, perhaps not at the same rate that they can charge a customer for the same work, but if it brings in business that would otherwise go somewhere else, I don't see why they would turn it away.
If they won't get reimbursed from Kia because of mods, then of course they aren't going to do the work for free.
