Too bad they didnt take this approach on the first go around. To be honest, i am happy to hear this. Sorry for added curb jumping nonetheless

I am going to have a chat with my Kia rep tomorrow morning. I am torn since I am glad that they are looking for perfection, however I am pissed that I am going to pay another month for a car that I don't have.

I can appreciate the cash that Kia is laying out at the end of this process but another month? This is getting old quick. By the time they are done, the car will have been in the shop longer than I had it.

If I went the route of getting a different car or my cash back, I'd be done by now. All I'm saying is that this shit had better be perfect after all of this. My good nature and kind disposition is about to change.

To say that this is frustrating is a bit of an understatement.

You have my deepest sympathy. This would sound like par for the course if you had a Jag or an Alfa, but sheesh! Good luck!

Thanks, I appreciate it. Funny thing is when I bought this car, I had a good laugh that I did not get a Jag .

I always wanted one, but don't have the money to buy two of them. Love British cars but know better. I am starting to wonder if Kia also hired some Brits along with the Germans they got.

(My fellow Commonwealth compatriots know of what I speak)

I feel your pain...... I've only had to be without mine for 4 days so far, but if they even hinted at going on 2 months... I would go absolutely ballistic on them and demand a loaner Stinger.

I'm none to happy about driving this s***box Altima they gave me, and am going to have to ask for another car because it is uncomfortable as hell.
@jondyer I would show my ass until they gave me a K900, Stinger, or something comparable since this is twice you are having to be without your car because of reasons completely out of your hands. At least we all know what you are going through.....and it aint pretty.:cry::cry:

Ive started the rebuy process via submitting the myriad of docs requested and have yet to hear anything official yet. Others have stated the rebuy may take up to 60 days so who really knows. I suppose the difference is that i get to keep the car during the process.

Still waiting to see a local repaint before my final decision is made. If it goes this route that may just seal up the rebuy for me.

I'm about a month in since selecting the buy back option and all paperwork submitted. I got a call after submitting everything and making my selection saying they got my buyback amount from KMF, so I figured it wouldn't be long. I have another payment coming up and haven't heard anything, so it is coming up on 30 days with no resolution yet. I'll keep you informed.

... no wtf I just washed my car, too only had it for a week

"Road damage", ah hah. That isn't going to even take off on this one, much less fly.

Dealership will take pics and help you open a case with Kia. Then, after your pics are taken, get the touch up paint going so you won't get too angry in the meantime. You will get warranty repaint. May the way be smooth and swift to restoring your complete satisfaction. Sorry you are one of the unlucky.

And that ladies and gentlemen is why I did not go for a swap.

I mean my dealer has me in a program where they cover paint chips and dents I’m all good, but this crap just ruined my mood and day

Do open a case with KIA ASAP and look for additional paint damage. Don't touch up the car yourself. On my case Kia said yes and the changed their mind to no and had to do a second round of pictures 3 months later.

Us yellow Stinger owners were having some paint issues and we were offered, among other things:

1 A repaint
2 Kia would buy the car back
3 A swap for any colour we wished as long as it was not yellow.

Long story and it is in the thread here. Certainly worth a read.

I do not think that owners of other colours have feared as well. Some blue owners have had good luck, but I have not heard of red owners having a set of options. I do admit that I am only lurking here and pop in from time to time so that might have changed. I am currently getting my yellow Stinger repainted and am dealing with my own set of issues with that.

Sorry your day was ruined, I know how that is.

When i met with the Kia district manager about my paint chips he said "you dont want a partial or full repaint, it will never be as good as from the factory." I'm like yeah i know but what choice do i have? If i was yellow i would not be taking the repaint.

I disagree. Your experience is literally the only ONE I have read that is so extremely difficult and unsatisfactory, dealing with Kia. I don't think that your touched up paint had anything to do with Kia later declining to repaint. It was all communication error crap.

There is no reason why well documented paint chipping/flaking (because of the placement NOT capable of receiving road damage) should be denied if touch up paint is applied after documentation with good pictures. It's just further crap to suggest that people with issues should have to drive their Stingers as the paint flakes and chips off, making them look like hell. This seems to take long enough to resolve. Having to look at increasing damage/failure without doing your best to make it look better is asking too much.

LOL - how about them painting it twice in one go? Hilarious!

At least a good side effect of them screwing up the paint on my car is that I have a better (MUCH better) rental. Apart from that, no other news.

If he was saying that (and he was wrong for that matter) then what was he actually suggesting? Curious.

I didnt touch my paint up. If i would have when they took pictures for a second time what would they have to analyze / evaluate? I would have been out of luck.
Kia had the original pictires they took, i uploaded extensive picture's and documentation and they still needed another round of pictues.

Not sure if he was sharing his opinion without thinking or trying to disuade me from pursuing the repaint. I think he was just sharing his opinion with thinking.
