The paint on the other colors is apparently extremely thin.
The measurements said not "extremely thin" compared to other cars' factory paint. Compared to body shop thickness, these cars' paint jobs are all "extremely thin".

Just checked cars.com, there are 47 yellow unsold Stingers listed. Some dealers do not use cars.com so there must be more. Just an observation not a recommendation.

42 on Autotrader so probably close.

New post about AUS Yellow cars being recalled to be repainted!

It's the same story, just essentially reposted by other outlets. All based on the comments by that one Australia Kia employee. It'll be interesting to see if the actual bigger US-based publications pick up the story when the yellow US owners get their letters .

Was on my Google news today about Australia yellows. Consumer Affairs also told me that a few days ago.

Hand washed out Micro Blue on Thursday for pictures with the dealer in Friday. We found over 20 defects covering th car. Within a month of purchase we had a clear bra installed covering the bumper, hood, left fender, right fender, A pillars, and all 4 doors along the brake vent. I could only imagine how bad it would be if we didn’t have the clear bra.

We do have a car number with Kia. I hope KMUSA takes the same steps to resolve the other colors as the yellow cars. I also wonder if build date has something to do with Kia’s response...

We are a 12/2017 build.

So the clear bra is on top of the defects you found? Or other areas that are not covered?

Both. We are finding more defects the longer we have the car. The ppf extends to aproximately half way up the hood. The defects appear to be pretty deep into the paint.

I had the ppf installed because we noticed substantial chipping in early March and I wanted to protect the car.

@MicroBlue: Wow, that just stinks. Kia has to address each and every claim of paint failure, or else this will explode in their faces. Walking the tightrope of capitalism produces these kinds of economic measures that don't work. The Stinger is obviously such an endeavor. Kia has put everything they've got into a great car at a great price. And something will manifest on the economy side. Paint it is. Hopefully the vast majority of Stingers will be fine through the years paint-wise. But it's too early to tell. Other issues, like squeaks and rattles, excessive road noise, electronics acting weird, etc., will, likewise, hopefully be rare occurrences and not "brand" the brand with opprobrium. I have faith!

If they won't respray the bumpers, then I will either get a new car of a different color or just have them buy it back. It's the same crappy paint on the bumpers as the rest of the car, so it makes no sense not to respray the bumpers also.

I can’t process why they wouldn’t paint the bumpers. That just seems like nonsense at this point.
Hopefully they contact the yellow owners this week with official details and we see if they'll do the whole car and if not, what their explanation is for leaving the bumpers out.

Also.......will the single vote for silky silver, if you are reading this, please describe your problem(s). I apologize if I have missed it elsewhere. Thank you.
I do not have a silver but did snap this photo of a silver 2.0 on the dealer lot...9 miles on it.silver dealer.webp

My only concern at this point is this: Since, at this moment, I am leaning heavily towards keeping the car, if Kia insists on choosing the paint shop for me, that might be a deal-breaker. I love the ride, there is pretty much no new car competition for my needs in this price range and I like yellow.
Agreed on this one...my local dealer assumed they would use their "local" Body Shop and that is NOT good enough for me. I want to choose OR the written offer needs to be CRYSTAL CLEAR on acceptance/recourse after the fact!

@AV8R I heard that as well. My only issue with the choice of a different colour is that I would not care to repeat this particular exercise.

To be honest, I never considered a new yellow one that was already painted. That is an excellent idea sir. Very good, wonder if that is an option considering the supply chain and availability?
I was advised that i would not be allowed to swap for another yellow...any color except.

Yes, this will be a deal breaker for me as well. If i turn the car in, i am going after TINT and PPF cost as well...and maybe even fuel.

Here is another blue one on the dealer lot...28 miles on this one.blue dealer.webp

And i found this monster flake on my yellow just under the hood vent outer edge.

If I look hard enough at my silky silver’s one headlight corner and actually try to move the headlight by hand, I can see an area that has the potential to be a problem. It is honestly not at this point, but who knows what may happen. No signs of any other body issues that I’ve found so far.........

I have no data to support this, but I believe the primer is the underlying (ha!!) issue, and it would be drastically different for plastic vs. metal.
