Discussion of Stinger paint quality (Was - Paint Chip Issue)

@Ucinn: Okay, to maintain some attempt at consistency, I changed my vote to match your vote parameters: now my vote is "No with PPC".

(edit: and as I predicted, Yellow would overtake and pass Blue; you have the distinction of being the first Yellow "yes" vote to pull ahead of Blue)

I think the paint warranty will come from whom re-sprays the Stinger. Choose wisely.

If I had too paint mine, I’d choose ‘Earl Scheib’, he’ll paint ANY car $99 no ups, no extras! (I will never get that ad out of my head!)

But you haven't changed your vote yet, by all indications. And your PPC is obviously not total, only frontal, I am guessing? So your vote of "no with PPC" was interpreted by you to include only partial PPC. I haven't changed my "no without" vote to "no with PPC" yet either; because I am unsure if it should only be full PPC.

What do you think? Should I alter my vote to "no with PPC"? Are you going to change your vote or wait to see if it really is a paint failure (i.e. more chips)?

FULL PPF to me would be ENTIRE CAR. Full Front, IMO, is Full Hood, Full Bumper, Headlights, Full Fenders, Mirrors. I have not seen any in AZ that offer A Pillars as part of the Full Frontal package. Many here offer a Front "Touring" which includes Bumper, and 12-18 inches up the hood and fender, and mirrors.

I have Full Front, as described above and no damage except for headlight rub area. Does not mean paint is good under it by any means. i will keep a close eye on my A Pillars (Only non protected paint facing forward).

@Mach_Tuck: But we are the ones interpreting the "no" votes as unprotected (less than full) and permanent protection as "full" front and not full/total car. I guess it doesn't make any difference since it is total "no" votes that are held up against total "yes" votes. The subdivision of nos and yeses are of secondary interest.

If you have any color other than yellow and have chips open a case now. These are all case by case and the longer you wait the easier it is to call it normal.
They agreed to fix my blue but didnt admit any defects and said they would fix if i would apply protection after wards. If i knew what i know know i would have added protection on day one.

Agreed, the sooner the better for arguments sake.

My car went from dealer show room to my garage and then sat for two weeks while i waited for an opening for PPF install.

Interesting that you say they did not admit a defect?? Very glad to hear they took care of you!

Your local Kia dealership. They may have to order it but it only takes about a week and it's 15.00 dollars.

Definitely keep it as it is as there maybe more that develop over time.

You may not know that there has been 71 yellow stingers sold in Oz and according to sources Kia Aust will be contacting owners re-resprays. You may want to contact Kia customer care and get info.

Theres details somewhere here on the forum and on the Kia Gt/ Stinger Facebook group.

Touch up paint is working well for me. Three initial chips and touched up. Looks good. Can't really notice unless your trying really hard to find it. No chips since then. I have a lease on the yellow so I will enjoy it for the years I have it and let Kia deal with it once I return it.

Just a note the dealer might play dumb regarding the issue. But Kia Aust is fully aware. People with more serious flaking have logged their vehicle with them.

Ah, did you change your vote from "no with protection" to "yes"? Yellow has picked up another "yes", and "No with protection" has dropped one, and the total is the same as it has been for at least the last three days: 133.
