I can only say go to Australian and New Zealand facebook club , Kia gt and stinger group and see the replys from people that have actually been contacted by Kia Aust about booking in for total resprays. They where phone contacted.
Doesn’t surprise me happening in down under as with the loss of our rear wheel drive locally produced cars they are filling a big gap now with the Stinger and potentially see Aus as prime market.
Can confirm the same as Ozstung said before, I got a call from Kia today. I logged a complain almost 4 weeks ago and have been in touch/been contacted by them constantly in this period. Pretty impressed with their customer service I must say.
Conclusion: They will re-paint the whole car. From what I understand, every state in Australia will have one recognized business who will conduct the re-paint. Plus, they will provide a life time warranty on the paint! , apart from 7 years which is the usual. The life time warranty will not cover intentional/accidental damage, but will cover if similar/same issues occur again.
2 weeks for the whole process and I was also told I will be given a loan Stinger for those two weeks. (I doubt the loan car will be another Stinger).
As far as paint protection and custom badges are concerned, they said me to provide them with the invoice and they will see what they can do. Especially since I did the paint protection at home. They will email me this information and I have provide them with invoices.
Reason: The guy explained that the paint when mixed had too much oil in it, which is causing unusual amount of chipping when something hits the painted section.
Yes, lets hope KMA follows suit. Curious how many of the 400 allotted to US actually were sold and do they intend to contact everyone if that is the case...or just those that have opened cases. Either way, i am happy and hopeful to see this news.
I have wondered the same thing!! My gut tells me NO if the specify shops like they did in AU. Could be a bit harder in the states as they would need to have dedicated locations in each state. Hopefully no "regional" spots as id hate to have to drive a few states over to get this done...if it happens!
Ghastly prospect! @Mach_Tuck. I'm guessing that Kia won't reach out to any already sold Yellows if the owners have not opened a case. Why borrow trouble? Even the failed colors that have significant representation in this poll don't amount to more than a tiny percentage of the total cars sold in those colors. I still believe that most of the troubled colors are fine, at least so far. Will they last the 36 month warranty?

Per my conversation with Paul King, Manager of the KMA Call Center in California, he has prepared a list of all 400 Yellow VINs. They have been broken down for retail sold (owners) and retail stock (unsold, sitting at dealer). They will be contacting every owner of a Sunset Yellow, case open or not. Customers will be taken care of first, dealers second.
Since we have seen the respray offered in Australia, I don't see why they won't do it here. Especially since they are calling everyone about this. I have no idea what they are doing with other colors, as it appears those are a case by case basis. He would not expand on those because I own a Yellow and that's all the info he could give me. Also, he did not go into specifics about PPF, Ceramic Coating, badges, etc.
Hope this helps with some info, and it looks positive since they did it in Australia.

Unfortunately, I tend to agree...why "notify" people of a problem if said people dont know it exists. IF i can get a lifetime paint warranty AND reimburse for putting PPF back on, i will be the first to sing praise for Kia for stepping up!

There's the pointy end of the stick right there. While a majority of Stinger owners seem to be trouble-free with their paint, that's also less than a year in at most for ownership in the U.S. What the passage of time may reveal for the overall durability of the factory paint job is still a question mark.

Well that's new - the only third hand Kia explanation I'd heard so far was from the apparently first repaint in Aus, where it was attributed to improper curing/baking of the primer undercoat.
Some interesting updates in this thread since I was able to post last. Glad to hear official action being taken in Australia. Odd to see it's still just yellow. Does Australia have all the same colors NA does? I know the yellow wasn't limited there.
So I called Consumer Affairs again to have my case reopened for the second time. Got someone else, Billy, who couldn't tell me why my case manager Jamie closed my case, but he apologized. He also told me after reading my case that Kia Korea is putting a hold on these paint-related cases while they decide what to do, and that here for NA they should have an answer shortly, that's all he could tell me. For the moment I'm sitting on the estimate I already have, as well as pushing for a buyback/swap, just waiting to see what the official response is. I did submit my paint protection invoice for reimbursement (why I needed my case reopened) but I don't expect anything to come of that until some official action is taken.
Still a lot of unanswered questions: will Kia specify painters or let owners choose their own? Will Kia actually call every Yellow owner? Will other colors receive equal attention or will Kia wait for owners to open their own cases?
I find Kia's approach to this heartening, so far, judging by the majority comments on this thread. But there are some who are not pleased with Kia vis-a-vis getting them to communicate in a timely manner, etc. These cases I ascribe to the fallibility of human beings, not Kia policy or intent.
That's one of the best ways to find a good painter, that and obviously the reviews. Check out the kinds of cars they paint on their Yelp review photos.
I have been a vote for no chips with ppc, but washing my yellow stinger the other day noticed I do have a chip on the passenger's A pliiar now..only spot thus far.

But you haven't changed your vote yet, by all indications. And your PPC is obviously not total, only frontal, I am guessing? So your vote of "no with PPC" was interpreted by you to include only partial PPC. I haven't changed my "no without" vote to "no with PPC" yet either; because I am unsure if it should only be full PPC.
What do you think? Should I alter my vote to "no with PPC"? Are you going to change your vote or wait to see if it really is a paint failure (i.e. more chips)?
I will change mine to yes now I'm guessing. I don't have the protection on the pillars..I have full hood, full front, headlights, mirrors, and full both front fenders.
I'm wondering if they are going to do a full respray on these, what are they going to do about our protection we already did and also I have the rear spoiler on it, will they be able to uninstall and reinstall that?
