** Update **

Called Kia again this morning. I was told that "options were being finalized" (sounds James Bondlike to me) and the folks with the affected cars and paint would be notified. I did tell them that I noticed that the trunk area of my car was, or appears to be "under-painted". The rep advised that no more pictures were required and I should know something in a couple of weeks.

Every time someone tells me that something will take "2 weeks", my mind goes here immediately

(I don't think the yellow dress is a coincidence at all)

Has anyone else heard the "two week" comment? I can't help but think that I heard that last week, but I cannot be sure. For reference, I am keeping better notes this time.

Put me down for the "2 weeks" also. I spoke with them on Friday afternoon. I am also keeping detailed notes on who was called, when, and what was said specifically.

I just got off the phone with consumer affairs and actually have a case # now. He didn't say 2 weeks. He said 1 week and 7 days.

I just spoke with Kia Stinger Client Services and now have a case number. Kia is working out a few options for who has been affected by this.

Hi Guys. New member here. I live in New Zealand and have the 3.3 liter V6 in Sunset Yellow.
I have the same problem with paint having chipped off on the edge of the hood closest to the windscreen.

I haven't contacted my Kia dealer yet. My car has only traveled around 2500 miles (3400 kms) on sealed roads.

I'll be taking the car to them next week.

Mark.

Stop press. Ive just heard via FB that the Yellow Stinger recipients in Australia have and are as we speak being contacted by Kia Aust regarding the total respray of all 71 yellow vehicles sold here. The respray time is expected to take two weeks. It appears loan vehicles have been approved.

Wow ! That’s gonna cost a mint.

What’s the value of your car company worth? Apparently enough for Kia to fix the problem and get good press when all is said and done. Happy customers = more customers. You fix any problems with your Halo Car in the growing pain time.

Interesting they're only doing the yellow ones. Let's see what KMA plans to do.

Something must have gone fundamentally wrong with the Yellow process. Other failures are random. Blue is problematic too, but Kia put them back on sale after taking them off for only a very brief time; so, not a categorical process failure with the Blue. That's what I am getting from these weeks of talking about paint.

Making progress at least, happy about that and for all Yellow Stinger owners in Australia.

For the first time since the poll started, Blue and Yellow are tied at 18 failed votes apiece. I predict that Yellow will pull ahead. We have 133 total votes this morning: still a small number. "No - Without permanent protective coating" continues to receive a steady increase. "No - With permanent protective coating" adds to this "No" total, but to me the meaning is vague. I have recently put PPF on the entire front of my car, everything in front of the windshield. Do I change my vote from "Without" to "With permanent protective coating"? I haven't change my vote yet.

Is there any official online documentation of this?
