I spoke to Premium Customer Service again today about getting more pictures out to them with new areas of failed paint. They told me not to worry about it and to expect a call within a week regarding some options to consider for my claim. Apparently, they had a meeting concerning the Sunset Yellow and have come to some conclusions. I’ll keep you all posted when I hear from them.

I got a call today straight from KMA stating that they are escalating my case number. Sounds like there is movement. I had a call from the dealership yesterday asking to being the car in sometime soon for more detail picture taking...

All very promising news...

That's good to hear. Seems like the Sunset Yellow is having by far the most problems of the bunch.

Is it a clear wrap like Xpel? Because those things are supposed to last a looong time.

its like ceramic coating

Those need to be refreshed on a regular basis. Different levels of protection have duration. Most are better and stronger than wax, though.

Once it wears out, you may see some of the paint fail. I hope you are one of the lucky ones that don’t. But if you do, you still will be under the paint warranty, I trust.

I noticed the same chip under my left headlights. Is that something I can talk to the dealership about? If leasing the car means anything
Always point out flaws/failures that you know shouldn't be there. Word gets back to Kia. Be a squeaky wheel. But be nice about it. Nice goes a long way.

Lease or not you are still paying for the car. i am in a lease and was about to buy it out when all these paint chips started. As it stands i'm holding out till know what the outcome is going to be.

This is my main fear...my clear bra has a 10yr life...realistically 7 in AZ sun but that is WELL past the 3yr paint warranty. Obviously this assumes that KIA is NOT going to extend any warranty duration for us. In my case, an extension of the warranty would be the best so that i do not have to deal with PPF removal and reinstall all while knowing Kia will stand behind the paint.

Thanks, will take your advice!

Yeah definitely. Going to reach out to them.

I have been looking at this thread sporadically and seeing the good news/results that some folks where gettting, I felt somewhat confident and so I called Kia today to see if there was any movement on my case and ....

Nothing.

I got the whole, "we'll call you" line again. Oh well. Patience is king I guess. The thing is that a bright yellow Kia sorta stands out and I have now had more than a few conversations with neighbors/onlookers who have NOW heard about the paint issue, vs. last week where some of them had not. I did not bring it up but I guess if you start asking your buddy Google about this new Stinger thing, this forum comes up.

Three guesses which thread is one of the more active ones.

All I can say is that Kia better get their proverbial stuff together and start nipping this in the bud or they will lose more than the 3 confirmed (by me, so not scientific) sales they have already. I had a text convo with the fellow that sold me the car and even he is shocked that nothing has happened yet.

I am a pretty laid back guy, and I love the car, but geez.

I’m a lease planning to buy as well and even though I’ve not had the headlight or other flaking issues, the rumors about the paint being thin make me wonder if I should really buy out the lease or not.

I went to a Kia Dealership yesterday to check out a yellow GT2 I've been considering to buy just to find out that KIA put a sale stop on that car due to paint problems. They wouldn't elaborate. Just FYI.

They did you a favor.

Mine was also moved to an "escalated case manger" who admitted they made absolutely no progress in a month so had me take my own pictures, which the dealer did a month ago.
