@forzanerazzurri so go for it: hire a lawyer and sue the bastards. Join a class action that is too late, sue the bastards, and lose. Might as well keep your car looking like crap the whole time, too, so that you can point to what a crappy paint job you are suing over. That'll make you feel better waking up each morning for months/years going forward.

As I said, if you love the car but got stiffed with a poor paint job, then a repaint is the only option: get everything out of Kia that you possibly can (or are willing to hassle for), and make your car as perfect as possible. Turn your lemons into lemonade and create a totally unique Stinger; wrap it, maybe. The options are almost endless and the results are amazing; and, done by the right sort of pros, are warrantied far longer than a Kia paint job. And also, if done right, will maintain or even increase the resale value of the car. (If the plan is to keep the car for many years, this is a pointless factor.)
Now I'm really confused. Am I suing them or wrapping the car, or both? Am I allowed to love the car AND sue Kia or do I have to hate the car while were in Night Court together to further my case? What if I start with a demand letter for a buyback? Does anyone have Better Call Sauls number, it sounds like I really need to lwyrup here.

Update: Finally a chance to take a shot of my "repair." Note ripples/bubbles and color difference. Didn't hear from the dealership rep about a replacement part coming in on Thursday, as expected, nor Friday nor Saturday, when in any case I was busy, but I did hear from the rep on the escalation team, who emailed me Friday to see if this was progressing. I'll be contacting the dealer's service rep Monday.

EDIT: Just checked my messages on my other phone number (the one I told the dealer rep I don't check regularly, so not to call it) and so of course there was a message there: the part was backordered and may come in Monday.

WOW - not even close to acceptable...looks like they had some elementary kids do the repair. Blows me away a shop would even feel ok letting this out the door.

Ya my paint is just disappearing on hatch edge ne’er roof. Is this a characteristics of what yellow cars where doing.its down to metal.
Can you provide some pics?

So...more bad news for the yellow owners who are not being awarded FULL repaint. Washed my car this weekend after some canyon twisties and found the following:

Image 1 and 2 show paint rub or wear on the REAR BUMPER above the tail light assembly...area NOT covered by repaint. Image 3 shows paint flake, on inner door jamb of passenger rear door...yet another area NOT covered by the repaint. Door jamb flake is not as "deep" as the ones on the exterior but is certainly visible. One on the rear is crazy shaped too. Just keep shaking my head.

She will be going back in the next 5 weeks. Still contemplating removal of the clear bra before i turn it.

I thought that all metal panels/parts were getting resprayed. You are saying that only the outer (doors closed) visible areas are getting resprayed?

Picture 1 is on metal, so should be covered. Picture 2 isn't clear to me what you are showing (different flaw than in pic 1?).

@MerlintheMad, yes is pretty much a MAACO paint job. At least what Kia offers. I was lucky enough to get a good shop who took care of me as "his reputation was worth more than about 1K of extra work"

PIC 1 is on metal but NOT in a covered area...see below. Pic 3 is INSIDE the door jamb just off the side of the door sil. That is, you cannot see it when door is closed. And YES, Kia is NOT painting the door jambs...so only the "exterior" areas. I tried to get them to cover all painted surface and was denied...hence the buyback. That was before i had this picture evidence of failures outside of the repair area.

Unfortunately for me, the paint shop to be used was "kia in house" so i had zero input on anything.

Cheers

Well here's another blue stinger with paint issues. Got the car in April, 10k miles counted 6chips today

Some of them doubled up when loading but you get the idea :cry::cry:

(Never mind, I see now that I was mistaken in what I was looking at. I still don't see why Kia wouldn't cover any part of the car obviously not capable of being damaged by road debris; and obvious carelessness, e.g. dropped objects from the trunk on the bumper, etc.)

Yep, chips. Unless they are in areas that could also be struck by road debris, you shouldn't have to put up with refusal of warranty. Kia will claim road damage anywhere possible.
They are all in the hood.
I have some on bumper but they are obviously from road damage plastic itself is damaged so those I can live with. The hood is different no signs of impact or dent. I will going to dealer tomorrow

Hood, not good. A glancing pebble can damage the paint, so they will in all likelihood assert. Good luck, anyway. I hope you are dealing with reasonable people.

All i can do is try. At least get some documentation of the issue.

I'm not 100% sure that 6 rock chips in 10K miles is a reason to be sure of paint issues. My 2015 Mustang would receive 10-20 touch ups a year with only 6K miles a year. I never considered the paint on the Mustang to be poor quality even with the chips. I guess the concerning bit is the fact all your chips are down to bare metal, but that may be par for the course. Trust me, I don't want to give Kia a leg up on the paint since there are some clear defects, but I think rock chips are a tough sell. The peels are a much more clear indication of a paint issue, IMO.

Yeah, under the rear licence plate, for instance. What could be more obviously NOT a road damage case? The only explanation is paint adhesion issues. Anytime a flake or chip appears on the hood, Kia is going to raise the specter of road damage.

I had 50 chips just on the hood and fenders at 3K miles and it was a battle to get KIA to cover. (Front end was another 50+ to hard to count)
Blue gt2.
Did you touch up the chips already? Mine where always silver

Got the call that my car is done but they are waiting for clear weather to flat bed it up to my dealer, probably tomorrow. I've made my decision, whatever gets me more money back is the way I'm going, keep it plus $5000 or buyback if greater than $5K then buy a commuter for work and save $1000/yr in insurance! Stinger is costing me $2100/yr to insure! Love the car but the cost isn't worth it if I can get more in the buyback. I'll probably know by the end of the week when they run the numbers for me. My love has been distinguised by the stories on this forum and how Kia Corporate has treated me, probably the last Kia I will buy.

What do you mean by “get more in the buyback”?
