Pics look great.

Regarding the lights...Front DRL only on during daylight. The rears come on when AUTO engages the standing lights during twilight/dusk. OR you could manually trigger both front and rear by setting the stalk to STANDING LIGHTS.
"Standing lights": I haven't seen that terminology before. Is that just "headlights on"? The top selection? I can see the "Auto" setting blipping between DRLs only and raising the headlights, like when we go under underpasses, briefly the headlights will come on (usually accompanied by the map going to nighttime display as well). So what I was seeing with my car in the carport is the headlights up against the wall came on, and thus also the taillights. But when I am driving around with my DRLs on (all the time, brw), in the daytime, my tail lights are not on, according to what you are saying.

Correct. During the day the front is on and the rear is not. You can manually turn them off with this symbol on the light stalk...

I thought that "parking/standing" lights only turned on the tail lights and parking lights, not the DRLs.

That's what he's saying, you can manually turn off the DRL by switching to Parking/Standing lights.

It actually dims the front DRLs. Can turn them totally off by going to DRL OFF on the stalk. In AUTO, sometimes ill see the parking/standing lights dash icon only during dusk/dawn...then when darkens a bit more, the full headlights come on.

They did two others. Both, they said, came out looking fantastic. They are doing the bumper for me, too, and removing all the glass during prep. I’ll keep you all posted.

Any chance you actually got to see the others before giving yours?
Saw pictures. I couldn’t notice any mismatch between the repainted metal and the factory plastic, not any more than any other car at least. To be honest, it looked like my car when it’s freshly waxed. I’m confident that a lot of places are doing great work.

I have a White GT Limited and have too few miles to notice chips (about 550 miles as of today). I also have PPF so this may hinder revealing some paint issues. I will keep an eye on it because of these noted issues, but hoping a White late March 18 build holds up...

That being said, I do have 2 other paint issues which sound similar to other's experiences - a small peel under the driver headlight closest to the grille, doesn't seem to be spreading. The other was at the top of the side skirt/rocker on the driver side on the top seam behind the rear door. That has been touched up with paint and I will be keeping a close eye on that to watch for spreading. I had these noted the day after I took delivery of the car, so it better be on file as I asked (the paint chip repair will be if nothing else).

That's how my issues initially presented themselves. A small piece under the driver's side headlight. I thought nothing of it initially.

Boy was I wrong.

My car has been getting repainted for some 8 weeks now.

I was just told the early build cars had this issue, I'm looking at 18s now, is there a certain date that is the cutoff or is it just luck.

Go to the dealership and have a look around.

Look at the headlights and take a close look at the paint. IF the paint is good and IF the car was built relatively recently, you should be good. If the paint sucks, it will (usually) manifest itself as peeling or chipping under the headlights.

Thanks, I'll look for that. Unfortunately the beat deals are 170 miles away but knowledge is still important

I live within 15 miles of 3 major Kia dealers yet I got mine from a cool dude 9 hours away in NC.

There is also @KiaofMuncie who seems like a good chap as well and probably won't steer you wrong so if you're close to him give him a shout as well (I don't personally know the guy, but from what I have read of his posts, he seems pretty straight forward).

Admittedly, it does make it hard to look at the car, but the guy I dealt with at Union County Kia (Joe) was very diligent about sending me numerous pictures and videos and answered all of my questions before I pulled the trigger.

I find that if you find someone who is not a "typical" Kia shill, you'll do well. YMMV.

Good luck.

Just got back from round #2 with Kia and my paint.

So this morning I noticed a nasty rock chip on my hood(definitely a rock) so that kind of sucks and of course as soon at I got to the autobody place they pointed that out. But that wasn't there when I originally went so at least that is on my side. Any who showed them the paint under the headlight(drivers side, passenger side also is starting to rub away) and the paint missing/chipped from under the plastic hood vent. They agreed with me that those were problems and think that those will be covered. The fender chips they said looked to much like rock chips and they probably wouldn't be covered.

Funny part about all of this was I had to wait a month to get to this point, and I had to call my dealer even though they said they would get in touch with me. And when I called I got a "O ya I have been meaning to call you about this", "Kia Rep denied covering it under warranty but I am going to have you go to our autobody place to get a quote on getting it done and we(the dealership) may cover it".

So nothing is 100% yet, but feeling a bit better my dealer is going to make things right or maybe I am getting the run around.

Some other information I learned. This autobody did take care of a yellow stinger already, they repainted all the metal parts(not the bumpers) and they said it was only issue for cars built in 1 specific month(he didn't say which).

He reached out, he's the one that told me about the paint. He has 2 red gt2 but lines in Indiana and I'm in South florida. Quite the drive... seems like an awesome dude.

Not true. We have examples all over this thread spanning from November last year through June this year (admittedly, only one that I have heard of). Most are from November/December 2017. So saying "only" that period is fallacious. I think it's pretty good odds if you follow the advice already given: to check out the paint carefully, check the build date if you want to: but even the cars that stack up from Nov/Dec17 are the few with issues; most Stingers are fine; you won't see anything wrong beyond damage in transit or possibly in production (like the rear edge of the hood which is mistakenly attributed to the driver's side windshield wiper). Chipping under the forward corners of the headlight assemblies is, imho, a good indicator of paint that possibly has adhesion issues: pick a different car, or plan on dealing with the paint warranty down the road.

I hear you, I am in Palm Beach county myself and there was no way I was going to visit the Kia joint on Military here. It did not cost that much to have the car shipped to me from NC, I think it was under $500 for the whole thing and the driver dropped the car off at my house. Very convenient indeed.

If Jason can't ship it for near that price, (although I am very sure he can) give my boy Joe a call at Union County. I know he will ship it and he does not play car selling games.

I have to use my current vehicle as down payment. With a newborn. I can't be without a vehicle for a week if I were to sell the car then immediately have a stinger shipped.

Gotcha! If you have to remain local - the only guy I would deal with is Edison Dealmedia (his real name). He is over at Grieco in Delray on US1. All the other guys there were playing the fool.

The main reason I did not buy from him was because I wanted a yellow one.
