Well I had another call with Kia Friday evening, and I don't have that great of news for those of us with non-Yellow Stingers.
Basically, Kia is still pushing the problem only exists with Yellow (and their metal surfaces), I did push that mine and many others are exhibiting the same problem (sometimes worse) and that it almost seems to be build-date related rather than color related. Because Kia is only doing a campaign for Yellow Stingers, the options only apply to them unilaterally. Meaning, if I wanted to pursue a swap or buyback, my car would essentially have to be re-investigated by the people who oversee that stuff for Kia in my state/region (not the KMA (Kia Motors America) people we've been talking to this entire time), and it would be a lengthy process, assuming it even goes anywhere. It would be subject to the lemon laws and other things in my state, etc. This is different than what has been offered to owners of Yellow cars, since the option seems to already be OK'd for them, and Kia will go through with it without further investigation (the car itself, no idea on the financial part of it) or consulting local lemon laws.
They're really trying to push me back into a repaint, as I had told them I wanted my case to have the same options as those with Yellow cars, and was leaning towards buyback (or swap, if I had some control over choosing the replacement). I have another call with them Monday where they may have more information for me on a repaint (still no word on reimbursement for my paint protection), or I can push for the swap/buyback anyways and have my case be transferred to someone else for my state/region, in which case, I have very little information as to the process those people will put my case through (cause again, it'll be different from state to state or region to region for non-Yellow).
I've been pretty frustrated by this entire situation, though I don't necessarily blame those I've spoken to at KMA (Kia Motors America), it's not like they caused the problems on the car in the first place, or have much say in what cars "officially" have paint problems. I just knew this is what was gonna happen if non-Yellow cars were treated on a "case by case" basis and not given the same options, despite the same problem.
