dings

Wow... mine has 1 or 2 dings, you must use and abuse your Stinger. Replacing it for a CF will look better but there is a fake CF sticker that will cover all dings which would be the easiest solution, when was the last time you cleaned your car?

I bought my stinger used and have been absolutely perplexed by what caused all the dings on my center console. Yours looks just like mine. I hear everyone say it's from the seat belt but come on, really? The guy who owned my stinger before me missed the seat belt that many times? Unbelievable. Will post pictures when I get back to my car.

as someone who has owned a singer since new, I can confirm it is from the seat belt. Every once in a while, i just accidentally hit the center console while pulling it over to buckle it. The metal loop part hits and leaves a ding. It's right above the buckle so it's not hard to do when you're performing such a mindless task

I hope I'm not offending anyone when I say I still simply don't understand how one can miss the mark by that much and slam into the center console. I mean what happens to your fingers when you're holding a nail and swinging a hammer at it? Well at least you all solved the mysterious marks the previous owner graced my car with.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I grab the buckle, not the strap. Some people really dislike fighting the return spring tension and grab the seatbelt high and pull it across their lap to remove the return spring tension; then they flip the buckle across their lap to get it over the fastener so that they can just drop it down there and snap it closed. Of course, this is the recipe for dings, since the buckle is flopping around completely uninhibited.

(Now, how do some people manage to drop chocolate chips down the inside of their shirt? I just did that.)

I grab the buckle itself with my left hand and pull it directly to the receiver end. Sometimes, I just do it too quickly and haphazardly and hit the center console. And definitely not offended haha.

Do you eyeball your hand and aim it into the buckle every single time or do you just go off feel and muscle memory? I'm sure that, like the hammer hitting the nail, you're less likely to ding the console if you're watching what you're doing. But I'd wager most people who have driven cars for some time, particularly a car they're familiar with, are not being that careful, because it's second nature by now.

Although I do wonder how the OP is missing the mark by this much  I've got a few dings too but they're all directly above the receptacle.

Easy to prevent, I have only one ding after all this time, I don't throw stuff at the console or cup holders never... never. I will get the CF one and switch and put some PPF on top of it, it will look amazing and will be protected against dings.

I must admit I found myself yesterday trying to reproduce how you buckle your seatbelt and it's actually a lot harder for me to grab it with my left and buckle with my left. I grab it with my left, bring it in front of me and change hands to take it the rest of the way. Man this shits getting technical...

The car should have come with a sticker in red saying "alert before you buckle up follow this instructions"

So i got in my car yesterday and realized I don't know myself as well as I think... I actually grab the seat belt with my right hand and pull in front of me, where I then grab it with my left hand . But still, its a very quick sequence of events based on muscle memory

Jeez guys, you had me really nervous so I just ran out to check on mine. No dings and it's my daily driver. I have 21k miles and will have owned this beauty for 2 years come October.

Dang it! I just zoomed in on that pic and there are a few!! I went back out and took a closer look and yup!! Grrrr, now I won’t be able to unsee it!
I already knew when this thread started, that I had a few dings. But compared to his example, I have none; my "dings" are exceedingly small and few in number, and were not caused by the seatbelt, but by who knows what. :)
