Has anybody had problems with the IKH 24 Denzo spark plugs changing gap after they install them. I had an Audi technician friend of mine install them at proper gap .022 only to have major Misfires a week or so later. He pulled the spark plugs out none of them were gapped at .022 any longer, they had regapped themselves back to how they were out of the box. Can somebody help me here what the hell is going on here. This is now the 3rd time these spark plugs have done this. Are just pieces of shit, are they all defective? Is there an alternative to these junkie Denzos spark plugs. I pulled a spark plug out a few months and watched it open up I couldn’t believe my eyes I’ve never seen anything like this ever. Please help

Are they opening up or is the electrode burning away? The center electrodes can burn down below the ceramic insulator.

Seems like you’re going through them awfully quick. There might be another issue and rapid plug wear is the symptom.

Most seem to be reporting around 15k miles from a set, beyond that, misfires start increasing in frequency and severity.

What tune are you running?

No electrode is fully intact and in great condition, Running secondary downpipes, mbrp exhaust and k&N intakes. Map1 or 2 same problem. I removed a spark plug and it actually opened up as I was looking at it, I regapped it right then. By the time I went to install it it it opened up a little bit even from there I had to regap it again. Seriously never seen anything like it. Spending $180 on spark plugs seems over the top outrageous to me. Any other options other than HKS or these Denzos? I’m going to pull these spark plugs again and recheck them but I guarantee I will find the same thing gap opened up basically to stock .035 most likely cause misfiring. I know a lot of you have installed these am I the only one this is ever happened to?

Oh yes the side electrode literally opened up from the center electrode, Very easy to see when it’s at .022 and then opens up to full opening as it came out of the box it’s a very big difference, I sat and watched it open up I thought maybe my daughter slipped me some thing but I believe almost all of the spark plugs opened up, Not one of them was set to .022 as they had done. I am dumbfounded other than to just think denzos are pieces of shit or I am the lucky bastard that got a bad batch.

I'm on my 3rd set of densos and have not had that problem.

Maybe you got counterfeit plugs?
Well I got them directly with my order from burger motor sports but I guess that’s possible. Maybe I’ll buy another setAnd see how it goes

I really don’t understand why these things would go through spark plugs like that I had a 100% E85 burning at 440 hp atw Subaru leggy i changed them once and they were stuck plugs gapped at stock. Never once an issue, Each set Must have had over 50,000 miles on them and they looked fine even when I did change them. I beat the shit out of that fully forged motor, But again never once an issue with the spark plugs I don’t get why these cars are so temperamental with their spark plugs.

Theory... the metal is a high carbon that's been hardened and tempered. Unlike mild steel, if is has enough carbon it can be quenched or case hardened. It will act like spring steel, coils, leaf springs ect. If you see it open back up and your gauge confirms it, that's what's going on. Though... I've put two set in myself and didn't have that problem. I gapped them the day before and checked again before they went in. It sounds like that batch isn't getting tempered properly before they're boxed up. Poor QA-QC.
I am a knife maker and I know a bit about metallurgy..... Just a theory though...

You got bad plugs. If it wont hold the gap (especially outside the car...wow), throw them away. Best of luck with which ever set you pick up next.

That sounds very accurate to be honest. When the Audi technician pulled one out because of the misfire cyd 3 he said what the hell I gapped these myself they are now back at .035 he just checked one though Because that was where it registered a misfire, but I checked them all later myself, all of them were out of gap.

I take it you’re using these as well? Have you seen or heard of anybody else have this type of problem.
I’m using stock plugs but from what I’ve read, these plugs are superior to the Densos.
