Deer Magnet

This is one of our KIA Rio's that we had bought for our Au Pair. She hit a deer at about 50MPH on Route 17 just north of Fredericksburg. She was shaken up, but walked away. Crazy thing is she was about 10 miles away, and drove it home. The deer ran off after she hit it, but with all of the "deer parts" left on the car, I can not imagine it survived.

You can see my 2014 Optima in the garage. :p
Glad she was ok. It’s scary when it happens.

Not sure if yellow is an option next year yet
I got mad a a guy tonight who said my car was a girls car because of the yellow. It is my wife’s but I also call it mine. I tried to tell him he had know idea what he was talking about. I hate people like that. Hopefully yellow comes to Canada.

That’s interesting. I hope your dad is ok. I had a close friend pass away from cancer at 54. It’s scary.

He passed away in 2008 from the cancer, he was 63.

Your lucky if you do see one off to the side, it gives you a chance lay on the brakes, dead stop even, and keep eyes for the other half dozen that'll kamakazie in front of you

I have had deers run into the side of my car. They are beautiful but not much in the brains.

I've had a run in with a deer in just about every car I've owned (including my stinger). I swear there are more of them than trees around here. Makes a nightly stroll a dangerous affair.

Here in PA we have lots of deers also. Just need to drive slow. They come out of no where. Where are you at ?

Southeast Tennessee. We have a lot of roads with blind turns and overgrowth on both sides of the road in the area I live, so usually your running into them blind if you manage to actually hit them.

Such as in the stinger. I was going uphill in a blind hairpin turn, and as I turned into the second turn the headlights illuminated a pack of 10 just standing in the road about 60 feet from me. For anyone that hasn't tested them yet, the brakes in this car work well, because I hit that doe at a much slower speed than I was expecting to.

I hear ya. Sounds like PA

As a motorcyclist, I'm well aware of the threat from deer, and have had my share of close encounters - here in metro Atlanta! We have a lot of "green space" despite being so developed, I have had to take evasive action on more than one occasion (I was fortunate to see them coming) but one time had one leap across our driveway - which was 1/4 mile up a steep hill thru the woods - and nearly take me off the bike. It was that moment when I discovered that deer have little swirls in their fur on either side of their butt, like short-hair dogs. :geek:

Yeah. Be careful. It happens quick. On a bike you need to be reall defensive when driving.

I LOVE these brakes, I had a pedestrian walk in front of me at about 45mph on HWY17 down here. She stopped short and true thank god.. I could see the whites of his eyes. Best brakes I've ever had.
