I couldn't see a discussion about this anywhere, so my apologies if this has already been discussed. Last week I went in to the dealership to get a new motor for the passenger side window that wouldn't roll down. They did the service upgrade of the hatch (although I hadn't heard any rattling) and they said that there was a firmware upgrade available (something about fixing the welcome lights). Anyway, I don't know if the upgrade did anything that I noticed to the interior lights, but I did very much notice that the car now remembers the driving mode that I was last in!

Previously the car always defaulted to Comfort mode no matter what mode I had it in previously, but now if I leave it in Eco mode (my holy crap there's snow everywhere so why bother wasting extra gas mode), shut off the car, turn the car back on, it's back in Eco mode. Such a small thing, but I am very happy about that.

Anyone else get the firmware upgrade? Is there any other changes that you noticed?

Really?? Have you had a chance to see if it remembers other driving modes as well?

Not yet, but I'll test that on my way home tonight. However, if the software is remembering any mode other than the default, I'm 99% sure it will remember all of them :D.

Thanks, I appreciate it. :)
I will ask about the firmware upgrade on my first service.

Yeah, this was probably the #1 item on my quibbles list.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Interested in knowing your results... my Stinger remembers only Comfort & Eco if it was on one of those two... otherwise it defaults to Comfort from Sport, Smart & Custom...

Oh really? Yours remembers Eco - but none of the other three? ... Wow, I'll be really disappointed if it doesn't work with the other modes. This is okay in the winter, but in the summer it'll be back to suck again. Well sh-, now I want to go find out straight away! If that's the case, then sorry for getting hopes up - I thought this was a breakthrough... :(:(

It is likely this way in order to get the best fuel ratings... and will likely have to stay this way to keep those fuel ratings... :(

I can get my head around not defaulting to sport mode (though I still say drivers aren't dumb enough not to know how this affects mileage), but there's really no reason for smart mode not to be sticky. This and the ISG default always on are little, but annoying decisions on Kia's part. I think a better solution would be to allow these modes to be sticky and just pop up a notification on the display that the car will not have peak efficiency due to these settings. As long as it doesn't require a click through (and goes away after a few seconds like the navigation nag screen) then perhaps Kia is safe from lawsuits on mileage.

It would be nice if the ISG at least had a delay of 10 - 15 seconds before kicking in. I have to badge in to the parking lot at my building, and I am there maybe 2 seconds to swipe the badge, and the ISG shuts off the engine. Does it too when parking. So irritating!

Wow, I am so disappointed, I thought this was fixed. Sadly it is not. I think I am now more irritated than I was before.

Yep, and yep.
