Took my car in for an oil change today and one of their techs cut my seat! I'm so pissed right now. Talked to management and they say they will take care of it.

Supposedly going to call me Monday and I'm to bring the car there for a replacement. I didn't get anything in writing before leaving the dealership but I fully documented it otherwise. I really hope they make it right.

I'm so bummed out right now. 15k miles and my seat is cut... Puke

While it's a boneheaded move they damaged your seat, as long as they make it right I guess I wouldn't be too pissed off. I do have to ask though, did they tell you about it or leave you to find it?

They left me to find it, presumably hoping I wouldn't. They are going to make it right it seems, will report back.

And Kia's stellar workshops/customer service strikes again! At this point it's almost comical. Getting oil all over cars, getting greasy handprints all over the interior, and now damaging seats and hoping for the best. I'm interested to see if they actually replace it with no trouble.

Here's a picture...

Costly mistake on their part, probably wasn't reported by the tech who did it (but maybe he didn't even realize - e.g. had a knife in his back pocket). Sounds promising that they will make it right.

I'd like to think my dealership would have caught that, as they always wash and clean the car following a service, and put plastic over both seats when it's dropped off.

Can't paint all the dealers with the same brush - I've been really happy with mine. Great service, facilities, and communication.

Yea sucks to happen but if they replace it wit ha brand new seat can you really complain? Like in someways its a benefit.

We'll see what they do. I'm imagining that they're just going to replace the lower cushion. I just hope they don't screw something else up in the process.

They replaced the bottom pad leather cover. It looks much better than having the seat cut, however, you can tell it's not 100% perfectly fitted onto the bolsters. It looks fine if you don't sit there and study it or if you didn't know it was replaced, but for the OCD among us it's annoying. Needless to say, they at least fixed the issue so I'm happy overall. In inspecting the car for additional damage, the only thing I saw was they scratched the A pillar trim piece while removing the seat, but it's low and out of the way so you can't really even tell.

Moral of the story is if you take your car in for service, put on a seat cover/steering wheel cover/cover all the things.

It's sad we have to stupid proof our cars just so we can take it back to the dealership who is supposed to be "trained" to service our cars.

Really though, should you have to replace a seat just to get an oil change. How hard is it to be careful with customers cars. It's just common sense. Not good enough dealer.

Or just go to another dealer maybe or an independant mechanic that you trust.

I also had a minor problem.I got my Stinger a week or so ago. When I went to clean it today--I noticed the back drivers rim was scuffed up--kinda hard to see--but it is visible and you can feel and see it is damaged.Tire is undamaged no scuffs--but I do not see how they fix it without a new rim. Also while looking for an inspection report--found out the car had been loaned/rented to someone and had a few hundred miles on it--instead of the 14 they said it had.I chalked it up to some test drives and was not gonna sweat it until I saw this damage.Almost looks like it got damaged while being unloaded off the truck it came on.It is not impact damage like someone curbed it--just looks like it rubbed up against another hard surface--like a scrape--but the paint is off and it is indented--I will let you know how it goes--waiting to organize with their tire guy.Manager though seemed unconcerned and did not take a photo of it--just nodded.I paid this car on the spot and will be more then angry if they claim I drove it off the lot and its my problem.I gave the car a best lookover--but did not bend down and inspect the tires--rims--exhaust or undercarriage up close--until today when I went to clean the rims. The rim is dark and from more then 3 feet away you can not see it--but if they did an inspection like I thought they do--it would have been easily spotted.i hope if they somehow buff it--it looks like a new rim--fingers crossed.I hope they work with me like you--but I am stickler and if they can get it 99%--but I will not accept some shabby work or excuses on a week and a half old car.

Had my local dealer crush my side skirt and scuff my front bumper. They also tried to charge me an hour and half for the hatch rattle.... which was tightening up the rubber bumpers.

They made it right and waved the fee, but never did the recall on my hatch. FYI loosening the rubber bumpers using common sense, takes care of the rattle.

That is encouraging. Any damage that is hard if not impossible to notice from five, six feet away, is my benchmark for, "Nothing in life has any business being perfect." If my eye is not drawn to a spot that I know is imperfect, when I walk up to the car, then that's good enough.

Vis-à-vis repairing wheel damage: a pro shop around here charges anywhere from $125 to $600 per wheel, and takes one to four days. Your damage sounds so slight that it has to be at the bottom end, cost and time. Of course, prices vary. Good luck! Oh, and welcome to the forum. :)

All good--I do not care how they fix it as long as it is close to the factory.I also hope they do not put it into a computer that Carfax has showing a week old car needs/has wheel.rim repair damage--which will affect resale value.I am pretty reasonable--but the rim obviously has hit or scraped something and lost some material.I love the car though--plan on putting better rotors and an exhaust on--hopefully except for basic maintenence--I never have another problem.Only thing irking me is I wanted a brand new car and they used it as a loaner car--and sold it to me as brand new. They have not gotten a clean title yet from one of my trade ins and hopefully they do not play hardball with this issue.I am not a total fanatic--but I keep my cars clean--maintain them at the dealership--avoid driving in bad weather--keep interior clean--and park the car far away when I go out so I do not have dents or dings.

That is not a damaged "rim". It is only cosmetic. You can get that amount of "damage" to your paint from bird crap.

Pulled over in an end stall, uphill from shopping cart corrals. :D

Wheel repair will put it 100% , no issues !

Only issue I had with my service yesterday was that they typically put in to much oil. Will be buying a dipstick oil extractor today.
