• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Anyone have a recommendation for a dealer to service in Central NJ? I'm in Somerset County. Just looking for basic maintenance and want her to be treated properly.

I’ve been doing all of my own work, but I will try Sansone when the need arises.
I stopped in one day to talk and get a feel.

I think there’s one in Bridgewater right? Bring them a box of donuts and say hi. Grease the wheels.

Yes Bridgewater is close to me. Unfortunately when I was purchasing a few months back they weren't great on communication. Not that that has anything to do with service, but it does turn you off to a dealership.

How expensive are oil changes on the Stinger for diy?

I take my stinger to ProComp racing in Toms river. They have been the only ones to work on my car whether it be Bolt on installs/oil change/ dyno. It's a performance shop..they know what they are doing. Prices per hour are a bit steeper, but, I know my car is safe there and they know exactly how to approach any type of work I bring them and I always have positive outcomes

I know what you mean. I won’t go back to Freehold after my sales experience even though the service department doesn’t seem as dysfunctional.

Doing it yourself will require ramps and other draining equipment at a minimum; I use a lift. I tried ramps from Harbor Freight ($30) for one oil change and the car barely cleared. I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t clear now that I’m lowered. The low profile ramps I’ve seen are pretty pricey. Plus, the oil filter requires a 27mm socket which I assume isn’t in the average toolbox at home.

The rest is kind of up to you. The OEM filters are between $8-12 depending on how good of a deal you can find. I do not intend to start some stupid oil preference debate, but I’ve been using Amsoil. So 8 quarts of your preferred oil; the manual recommends certain specifications to look for.
I do the CRC valve cleaning before every change which you can find between $10-13 and I dump a bottle of Techron fuel system cleaner the fill up before my change. So my changes are at the outer limits of what you could spend and I’m happy to do it.

What I save in labor I reinvest in extra care.

Thanks for the info. I have ramps and don’t mind the work, especially if it saves me the time of driving to a thorough dealership. I’m definitely an Amsoil fan from my S2000 days.
What other draining equipment? Specialty or just a container?

Do you have your own lift or have a friend with one?

I just use one of those drain pans with the large reservoir and a spigot integrated.

I have a Quick Jack lift. If I really need some room to maneuver I use the hobby shops at McGuire/Lakehurst. That’s where I did my exhaust.

Just got my HECU recall through Carfax...anyone get it done at one of the NJ dealerships?

Well I got my HECU recall done this morning at Bridgewater Kia...and all good. 8 am appointment and out at 9:30am. My car got pulled in just before 8:30 so it took about an hour. Car came back clean and disinfected. The service waiting room looks out over the bays which I liked.
