Daytime Running Lights question

Is it normal for the daytime running lights to turn off whenever the parking brake is engaged? It's been the same since I got it. I'm only asking about this because in all other cars I've seen on the road it stays on as long as the car's engine is on or is it different on the Stinger?

Is it safe to just leave the car on P only or will that damage anything? Because this is the only way the DRL will stay on.

Also is it intentional on the Stinger that whenever you shift to D the electronic parking brake should disengage by itself? Because sometimes it does disengage by itself and sometimes it doesn't and I have to do it by myself.

My DRLs do the same thing. I’ve never noticed the parking brake staying on though. I’ve always noticed it turning off when shifting to drive. That’s the beauty of electronic parking brakes. They automatically disengage so you don’t forget about it. I’d still prefer a physical hand brake.

It is normal "Stinger behavior" for the DRLs to shut off when in "P" with the parking brake on. I have proven this by deliberate experiment. Your little annoying glitch of the parking brake icon remaining ON when in "D" is not an indicator that the parking brake is still engaged: you'd feel and hear it if that were the case. It is just the light.

This is a temporary glitch.

A few days ago, I had the ISG OFF light come on when I started the car: which, of course, should mean that the ISG is OFF: even though I hadn't touched the OFF button yet. When I parked, the ISG icon came on but it was amber. I looked down and sure enough the ISG button was still lit: so the icon should never have appeared. I pushed the OFF button several times and it didn't change a thing: the OFF light was still lit up. But that was a once-off glitch in over twenty months of driving. Keep an eye on your parking brake icon. I bet it'll go off again when you're in "D". (Annoying, the complexity and potential glitchiness of modern automobiles. )

Not yet. If you keep any music off when you shift into drive you should be able to hear the parking brake disengage

Not yet. If you keep any music off when you shift into drive you should be able to hear the parking brake disengage

Yeah, I know how it sounds but sometimes I have to manually disengage the parking brake after shifting to D as it doesn't do it automatically and I can't figure out what's causing this. I'll probably take it to the dealer to check on it.

I don't know. I didn't play with "N", just "P" with parking brake on and off. I'm going to guess that pulling the parking brake on disengages the DRLs in anything but "D".

If you didn't move in "D" because the parking brake icon was still on, that is a malfunction. Touching the gas should disengage the parking brake instantly. If you have to manually disengage the parking brake then something has gone south. I have no idea what it means, sorry.

having rear camera issues....weeell..lol..a lil more than just that... Actually it all started when i hit debris on the freeway (common in CA) and tore half of my M&S front lip off and left the underglows in front broke off and wires hanging. So i took off the bumper off and replaced the front lip and added diffusers and tightened down the lower grill which was just unclipped and replaced underglows and all worked fine. I only saw one connection on driver side and looked fine on removal and install. Everything was working fine for about 2 weeks....then my adaptive light error light in dash cluster turned on. When that happened i also noticed that the normal light self test at startup only moved the lights up and down not side to side like normal. Then when i reversed the reverse rev camera went black until i took it off rev. then displayed all like normal. I also noticed my front seats ac/heater did not turn on either (was checking all the option buttons to see what didn't work). On top of this all i am getting a "Discharge battery warning" while i am driving the car saying i need to turn motor on while using the system?? I have searched for a cure or fix but nothing i could find seems to fit my issue. is a fuse possibly blown or wire connection as everything connected was double checked. I am left scratching my head and don't want to keep driving with this battery warning and don't want to visit the dealer since i have underglows/jb4/fuel it kit/all connected and i know they will try to point the issue to one of these connections. Any ideas or thoughts? sorry for the book but wanted to be clear on the issue. btw its a 2018 GT2.

coincidence timing with your debris encounter is the first troubleshoot obviously. why that would segué to the host of other electrical malfunction is the scary part. must have whacked something more than what you have seen so far I'd be checking for that blown fuse, but also returning every electrical thing to stock and go from there, including a visit to the dealer if nothing works for you up to that point. I hate the electrical complexity of cars today. a thousand things lined up to fail is how it feels to me.

ya thanks man...i figure its a cluster thing and 1 problem contributes to others so hopefully fixing 1 thing can fix them all. Ya i have exhausted my options and may have to go to dealer for this..which i cringe at the thought!

Now I have to try this haha. Another “feature” to check out. Don’t do as much night driving so never noticed if this happened to mine or not.
