Dash Cam Mount?

3M pad on mine, holding fast in the Texas heat... It's only been a few weeks though

Actually the dash mounted suction cup was for my iPhone. I eventually got a mount that looped and secured around the mirror arm. That never dropped as the mirror didn’t drop. The Stinger mirror gas much less room. I have a thin mount that should work but I’m thinking of a better, no hanging wires solution. Haven’t done it yet. I’ll have my installer run a long wire and pickup power from the fuse area. Next on my to get done list.

Mine is Blackvue with 3M tape, no drop off here.

I have the BlackVue 750s dual camera, best dash cams in the world in my opinion. Looking at putting it in my misses new car and getting the new BlackVue 4K 900s dual camera(can zoom in on number plates with it).

I can also vouch for 3M. I mean the real product, not what the china cams call 3M. I removed the adhesive from my china cam bases and put proper 3M on it, in my case 5952-F tape. On a cleaned, flat surface that stuff sticks madly to glass and other clean, totally flat surfaces and survived intense sun in summer so far (also rated for 90C temperature). I think bad ratings of this tape from some only come down to improper use (unclean surface, not flat .. it's not made to stick to textured plastics in a car).

I really would like a solution that doesn't involve tape or suction, but a solid mount. Would you be able to show what you have done and give some more details please?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Don't rule out 3M on glass to soon. That stuff is rock solid .. theres zero wiggle. That thing connects like concrete and lets me use any position behind the mirror to not obstruct the cameras view by something or annoe my by seeing the cam ... I got a tiny Viofo cam, hugging the glass real close.

3M mounting tape on glass is the way to go. It's effectively a permanent install.

I haven’t used it yet and now it’s out of stock. I bought this to loop around the mirror mount. It’s very tight in there and my old one was too wide. This is this. I may go the pay my installer guy to run the wires and 3M stick it on like voon suggests. Once it’s on I want to just leave it. With tape I can mount it higher too.

Sorry to be critical to the manufacturer, but the U-bolt solution in the above link is laughable. I certainly would never use such sloppy looking solution in my vehicles.

I have had dash cams in the past couple cars. I have installed them myself and used the supplied 3M clear, double-sided tape. I have lived in Nevada, Georgia and Florida, three very hot locations. The cameras have never come off, until I pried them off to remove them. In addition to that, the tape provides a very neat and professional looking solution.

All of my windshields and rear windows have been tinted. There has been no issue with the tape not adhering to tint, nor an issue with the tape being removed from the tint.

Same here,I live in central Queensland Australia and it gets very hot here as well. My SQ5 is tinted and my dual camera BlackVue is hard wired and attached to the front and rear windscreens with the supplied 3M double sided tape. Looks great and no issues at all. I couldn’t imagine attaching it any other way.

I will wind up doing the same. I called my installer he’ll do the install for $80 which is fine by me. I’m thinking to mount it to the windshield behind the mirror for minimum blockage. I’ll bring all my stuff and he can do the wiring and stuff. Forward facing, I don’t have a dual. Now I have to think if I want a dual view.

Life comes at us from every direction. If cost is not a concern, then dual cameras will capture a lot more than just what is in front.

But I have a very nice forward facing cam. Z-Edge Z3+. I’m going with it. I ordered a 3M mount adapter for it. If I made a mistake, I’ll deal with it later. I’d like it up and running before my trip at the end of the month. That way I’ll have it mounted and going and it will give me an idea if I F’d up. Just do it! That’s how I bought the car, so...
